What's the appeal of reaction videos, if what I'm thinking they are is what you're watching instead of approaching it the natural way?

I can't explain the appeal of them anymore than I can explain why I like Touhou, Crescent. All I can tell you is that I like seeing other people's reactions. Further Wildcat sayeth not. :D

I may just be reading something that doesn't exist between the lines, but it sounds like I've been leading you down a dangerous path.

What, no gap moe? Boooo...~

Also, getting back on topic: it may just be me, but I think the show's last episode made a reference to one of the final scenes in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

The latest episode seemed to cater to a lot of fan ideas concerning the minor and background characters of the show, as far as I can tell. I'm not really a fan, so there's not much fandom that I'm aware of, but the stuff I was played out that way, so...

For instance, the pony with the hourglass cutie mark was clearly inspired by the Doctor in Doctor Who, and there was even a tantalizing bit where one might think that Derpy could be his companion.

Some minor points of interest that I gleaned regarding the episode:

The trio that Dr. Whooves talks to at the bowling alley are based on characters from The Big Lebowski. I can't think of too many kids in the show's targeted demographic who'd understand that.

Youtube was responsible for the sea serpent's name. Auto-subtitlers can get kinda weird sometimes.

There's been a substantial amount of fuss concerning Vinyl Scratch's voice, or lack thereof. Most seem alright with the fact that she can't talk (myself included, and it helps that I'm not emotionally vested in the show), but there have been others who wanted Nowacking---a web actress who voiced Vinyl in a number of fan projects---to handle the role. Scuttlebutt has it, however, that not only has Nowacking stated that she doesn't want to provide said voice officially (pun not intended), but that doing so would effectively kill any chances of her taking part in future projects as Vinyl. Copyrights, and that.

That was a twist that no one saw coming.

Complete with white Russian in the 2nd bowling alley scene, and then a duo + coffee can in the wedding scene.

You know, for kids!

I kid I kid. Personally I was rather amused by the whole BonBon and Lyra thing. And the Octavia and Vynl bit... though that did get indulgent... on the other hand they knew it... given it did jump a plush shark at the end.

And poor Button Mash.

I didn't think video games---or arcade cabinets, for that matter--- even existed in Equestria, but if they have bowling alleys (complete with automatic ball returns), record turntables and synthesizers (powered by magic, I'm guessing), I guess anything's possible. It could just be that Ponyville's not a terribly big place, but... eh, it's too troublesome to think about it. :?

I'm probably just over-thinking this.

You are. The answer to everything is magic.

And friendship.

Not necessarily in that order. :P

So, basically what you're saying is that the automated returns at the bowling alley could potentially shut down if the facility's management has a drawn-out argument of some kind? :?

Well, they seem technologically advanced enough to do that with machines. Equestria is kind of like ancient Greece, where the practical use of knowledge hasn't caught up with the extent of the knowledge they have, so it generally looks less advanced on the whole while every here and there the odd thingamabob will look out of place. Like an analog computer or a steam engine in ancient Greece.

Is it just me reading too much in between the lines, or was the latest episode, "Party Pooped," an allegorical social commentary about the intolerant culture/religion/traditions in the Middle-Eastern region?

Also, I thought it was great that Pinky Pie was the equivalent of Ringo Starr in the band she joined. XD
