These are paraphrasements of the Sin Descriptions from the Book of the Damned, which should make it easier for folks to judge for this topic.
Malicious Deceit: this is defined as a lie told for no other reason than to cause pain or harm to another person. Not every lie or deception is a sin, or else any soul who had ever bluffed another would be damned to Hell.
Covetuousness: desiring things that should not be yours and having the intent if not the capacity to acquire them. Idly dreaming about an object or a person is not a sin, but coveting something so much that the only reason you do not take it is because of your physical inability to do so is a sin. For example, Gosunkugi's lust for Akane would be Covetuousness.
Verbal Cruelty: there are many ways in which to creatively hurt someone without laying a finger upon then, and those who are evil take pleasure in even the smallest of sins. Verbal Cruelty is an evil act whether it involves crushing a young woman's self esteem, laughing at a beggar's pathetic state, or reminding a person of emotional pain that they have suffered.
Theft: to take something that is not yours; the greater the harm you cause by stealing something, the more grievous the sin.
Breaking Your Word: this covers acting dishonorably as well as breaking oaths. Non-payment of Covenants is also counts as this sin.
Refusing To Relieve Suffering: this is a sin of omission, in which the sinner deliberately refrains from intervening when they could have relieved someone else's suffering without significant cost or inconvenience to themselves. For this sin to have been committed, the suffering person must have been in genuine need and asked you for help that you then refused. For example, refusing to give a fang (copper piece) to a beggar out of malice when you have a hundred oboli (coins worth 20 crowns (gold pieces) each, with 1 crown equaling 100 fangs) spare.
Blasphemy: denying or wilfully insulting the divine, though the sinner must know what s/he is profaning in order to commit this sin. Someone who has never experienced or known the divine cannot be considered to blaspheme, as they have no understanding of why something/one may be considered "sacred" and so their insults mean nothing to both themselves and to the ones they insult.
Betrayal: a difficult sin to define, but, like the famous definition of obscenity, one knows it when one sees it. Selling out ones friends, defecting to an evil cause, abusing a trust and making empty promises for ones own benefit are all examples of betrayal. Pretty much everyone in Ranma 1/2 has done this at some point - for example, Akane essentially abused Ranma's trust by using his phobia of cats to terrify him into agreeing to throw his rematch with Mousse.
Cruelty To Creatures Of Animal Intelligence: malicious injury, deliberate starvation, burning and beating are all examples of things that would earn the comitter this sin. They must be tormenting something of animal intelligence (2, in D&D terms) - something that has enough intelligence to experience pain and thusly counts as a sentient being. Something that no mind cannot feel pain - one cannot torture a giant ooze.
Obeying An Order To Commit An Evil Act: to perform an evil deed at the command of another is to acquire some leniency - but not total. By partaking in the sin, one partakes of some of the responsibility, and so one is also touched by Corruption, even though the full burden falls upon the one who gave the order. For example, a solider decapitating a helpless prisoner at the order of their commander would gain this sin, while their commander would commit the sin of murder.
Physical Cruelty To Intelligent Creatures: any and all acts of wilful and sadistic harm to creatures of greater then animal intelligence (Int 3+, in D&D terms), irregardless of the alignment of those tormented.
Refusing To Save Another's Life: failing to prevent a person from dying when it was unquestionably in your power to do so and you had nothing to fear from the dying person. For example, refusing to spare water for someone dying of thirst despite having plenty to spare, or refusing to throw a rope to someone drowning when it would be easy to do so but you cannot be bothered.
Defiling a Holy Item Or Place: the severity of this sin depends on the potency of the item/place defiled. Making snuff from the ashes of an obscure saint would be a low-level Defilement, sacking and looting the tomb of a deified figure would be a high-level one.
Rape: this covers both forcing yourself sexually on another being and other denials of free will... I think this technically means that pretty much everyone in Ranma's circle has "rape-class" Sins to their name. Nabiki, Kasumi and Soun's declaring Ranma in the wrong and forcing him to try and apologise to Akane at the start of the Nabiki as Ranma's fiancee story, for example.
Killing A Creature That Is At Your Mercy: this is not quite murder, as it is not premeditated. It consists of the slaughter of a creature that has no weapons, is not capable of defending itself, and is bound, held in manacles, or otherwise incapacitated. In essence, for this sin to count, the sinner must slay a creature that must not have been dangerous to them at the time of death in any way whatsoever.
Fatal Deceit: deliberately causing the death of another through the telling of lies. This is less serious then murder, as you do not strike the killing blow yourself, but still a terrible act. An example of fatal deceit would be giving someone a vial of poison and telling them it is a healing potion. Telling such lies in self-defence or to trick an enemy does not count as a sin, as is the same with any deceit-based sin. Fatal Betrayal (that is, betrayal that causes the betrayed to die in a manner that could not have occured without them having first been betrayed) is Sin Rating 8.
Unpremeditated Murder: murder committed without prior planning. This does not cover accidental inflictions of death, but only killings that were both avoidable and unlawful.
Protracted Torture: torture is the cold-blooded use of expertise and equipment to cause a creature as much pain as possible without killing it. This sin is committed the first time one spends more then 1 minute torturing a creature and does not count as having been committed again until at least one day has passed between torturing sessions. The suffering inflicted upon the damned is an example of protracted torture.
Murder In Cold Blood: killing an opponent who is fighting you with lethal intent is not a sin, nor is fighting someone who fights for a cause or nation with whom you are at war. To Murder In Cold Blood is to deliberately kill someone simply because it is the easiest, most convenient thing to do.
Murder Of A Friend Or Relative: this also covers the murder of someone you are sworn to protect or serve, such as a vassal lord. It is more severe a sin then simple murder because it is also an act of great betrayal.
Murder Of An Innocent: to slay a single intelligent and truly innocent being - namely an infant or someone with Corruption Level 0.
Mass Torture: this sin cannot be committed by a lone individual. You must have a dedicated group of individuals working under you who, at your instruction, proceed to torture multiple victims. They will receive Evil Obedience sins, while you will receive the Mass Torture sin.
Mass Murder: as above, you cannot commit this sin on your own. Committing several murders in a sequence is not the same as Mass Murder. It requires others to kill multiple victims in response to a single order from you.
The Sin Against The Holy Ghost: claiming the power of the divine as your own, which includes perverting angelic power and pretending to be a divine being.
Mass Murder Of Innocents: as Mass Murder, except the majority of your victims must be Innocents. This, amongst the most terrible of sins, is usually seen only when a tyrant wants to rid themselves of an entire dynasty and ensure that nobody may challenge their rule.
Denying The Will Of God: wilfully and deliberately acting in opposition to the Will of the Divine.
Water, water, everywhere, and all was cursed and black!
Drowned ones cast bad spell and out come pig, girl, duck, panda!
Swirl, swirl, slithery pond, and join with magic spring!
Swirl, swirl, dirty pond, and rid the cursed sting!
Here my prayer, I beg you please!
Now turn these curses BACK!
