Firefly/Starwars
Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds was a soldier in the war against reunification. He believed in his cause, and kept his squad going despite being cut off by the enimy, before he was betrayed by his own side and abandoned. Following this abandonment, he took his first officer, bought a ship, and made a living smuggling.
Han Solo was a smugler who won his ship in a game of space-poker (sabac). He worked for the rebals, but was betrayed, and stayed bitter to them for years.
The two have quite a bit in common. Past betrayel, broken ships, and fanaticly loyal friends.
What if you switched the two?
What if, in Star Wars: A New Hope, Obi-wan and Luke didn't get a ride from Han Solo- they got a ride with Malcolm Reynalds. In this setting, Mal was a soldier fighting against the empire, untill his command gave up and left him (and his platoon) to die. Now he travels space with his first officer Zoe, his hired goon Jayne, his Twilek mechanic Kaylee, the fugitive from the empire Simon, and the girl who was experimented on by the empire to create a force-empowered soldier- River.
With Mal's lingering resentment towards the rebelion fighting with his urge to fight for them, it could be an intersting story.
The Banana, the Atheist's Nightmare:
God made it with a non-slip surface, a color coded system so we know when to eat it, and an easy open tab at the top of the banana. It's just the right shape for a mouth and is easy to digest!!
