Car driving

Postby Atlan » Thu Feb 01, 2007 11:49 pm

In Hellfire Days an Wild Knights, Ranma, Ukyo and Shampoo are going on a road trip. Before I write that, I need to know two very important things:
Which side of the road do the Japanese drive on?
Which side of the road do the Americans drive on?
The Banana, the Atheist's Nightmare:

God made it with a non-slip surface, a color coded system so we know when to eat it, and an easy open tab at the top of the banana. It's just the right shape for a mouth and is easy to digest!!

America is on the right side of the road, with the steering wheel on the left.
EDIT: Also, you may wish to make your post title a bit more specific, i.e. Car Driving in Japan and America, or something to that nature.

And the Japanese are the opposite. Left side of road with steering wheel on right side of car.

So you could write on how they first drove arround, and the diffrences? Maybe late at night, a inadvertant game of 'chicken' with a vehicle far larger?
Where is the Road trip from again? Point A to Point B?

It's been a while since I read the early chapters, but weren't they given a ride from the airport? If so, they probably know about which side Americans drive on.
Unless I say otherwise, if I'm discussing Ranma canon, I'm talking about the MANGA.

Knowing and remembering are two different things. I had a Japanese acquiantance visit once who had been to America before, and when I lead her to the car in the airport parking lot, she immediately went to the driver-side door, thinking that it was for the passenger seat.
Only about a quarter of the world's countries drive on the left. England and her former colonial empire comprise most of them, with Japan being a notable exception in that it wasn't a former British territory. All of the rest of the countries of Europe (except Malta) drive on the right like we do in the US.
For an article on why, a list of which countries drive right or left, and a quick-reference map, go here:
