Try to make sure that new topics here actually couldn't actually go somewhere else.

I also don't care for everyone beating Akane up all of a sudden and berating her.
yea I agree, psycho mallet happy Akane is quite wrong. The only time I really like that time of Akane is when the fic introduces a source for her anger like Shampoo giving her a drug or something.

And the mallet is used more by OTHERS than her!

When a fic starts with a "this week in the news" thing where it's just a long list of things that happened like "pervert wars cause panty shortage" "ranma locked as a gurl forevaz!" until the author gets to the part they actually care about. It's just terrible writing.

Not to be confused with "LAST TIME ON DRAGONBALL Z" type things in which the author recaps what happened in the last chapter. These tend to not bother me when they're just brief reminders.

Emphasis on brief. I won't say who but there is this one person who exceeded the word count of their first chapter in the fic recapping the previous Story arc at the start of the chapter to start the second story arc.

Why need to recap the last chapter? It's right there!

Oh no! This looks unfamiliar, it's been a while, how do I find out what happened previously? If only there was a previous chapter button...

It's not like these things are spread out in hard to find places...

Speaking of confusion, I find it annoying when authors don't make it clear who's talking or when scenes change.

"You don't do this." Noy told the viewers. "Yeah! This is super annoying!" Telinú yelled. "You can't tell who's saying what." "that is correct."

It's like these people don't know what they're doing...

Do you really want to read 100,000 words just to read a new chapter of 6000 words posted a six months later?

Well, if you're confused or lost you can go back a chapter to make sure that you didn't miss anything.

It's what I do.

It really disrupts the flow to have "here is what happened last chapter".

One of the worst stories (technically) I've read put the speaker's name in one paragraph, then started another for the speech. Ish.

I disagree. I always put a short summary at the beginning of each chapter for those who don't want to reread everything. I always put it in italics and mention that it's a summary. It's easy to skip and I don't see how that disrupts the flow of the story.
And that's the bottom line 'cause Dumbledork said so.

Some don't however, and repeat themselves in the story before the new part starts.

A repeat from the last scene is not a Recap.

I know, I'm talking about the first part of the story is a whole bunch of recaps that summarize the last chapter, having a ton of questions in it and being annoying.

Like there was one I can't remember where it went like this.

Title

summery of the last chapter QUESTION!? more summery QUESTION?! Final summery DRAMATIC QUESTION!? New part i haven't read yet.

All with no differences between recap and new story.
