Ah you raise a good point.

Editing.

That's another skill related to writing and a big part of helping shape your work into a better form. Though reading finished products won't be too much of a help in learning about the editing process.

This is where I use the decent-story, crufty-language stuff. I fix it. Amazing how much you can learn, fixing things.
