Depends on the quality of the story, and the depth of the characterizations. Sailor Moon and Cutey Honey are okay, I infinitely prefer Card Captor Sakura and Magical Project S/Pretty Sammi. Sailor Nothing, while well done is too depressing. Some of the others I wish only a painless and immediate death, them or me, whichever means the episode is over quicker.

Seriously, though. I'm picky. I don't go with just anything that happens to be required for the transformation sequence, for instance. Cell phones? How absurd! Though it'd depend on whether the content can tip the scales, i.e. isn't too cliche with its drama and romance. In fact, that's partly why what I tend to favor are comedies, since I don't need to take them too seriously. But even they fall before my scrutiny if at least one thing happens to be too typical. Although I'm also likely to overlook it if I think the series offers a nice playground for a writer, such as myself.

To date, though... There aren't many series that I can claim to like. There's Magical Project S, of course. Sailor Moon (manga) is also a given. Shugo Chara, too. And Hime-chan's Ribbon (which, technically, applies).

I grew up with magical girl anime (as well as other anime) and I really liked them, especially the Studio Pierrot ones like Creamy-mami, Magical Emi, and Pelsia. Of course, before that there were Cutie Honey & Minky Momo which I absolutely loved. I've seen many more since a lot were shown on French TV.

Later I came to like Sailor Moon, Wedding Peach, Magical Doremi and Pretty Cure.

My experience with the magical girl genre is actually pretty limited. Sailor Moon is better in (well-written) fanfics then the actual show is these days, I like what I've seen of Card Captor Sakura, and I adore the Nanoha franchise, but I can't say much for or against the others.

Sailor Moon, up 'til the end of the R season. One episode of Nanoha StrikerS. One or two episodes of Magical Project S (due to Washu being present), plus the Pretty Sammy OVAs. The entirety of Powerpuff Girls Z, and some episodes of CCS (or just plain CC, in light of the circumstances). ...And, unless I'm missing something, that's pretty much it. I guess as to whether I like them or not, my opinion's rather middle-of-the-road.

Although I have only seen two magical girl Anime in their entirety. The Sailor Moon Series and the Tokyo Mew Mew Series. I have seen 9 episodes of Magic Knights Rayearth and 5 episodes of Shugo Chara. Any others you suggest?

Depends. What kind do you prefer? There are several genres. You have for example the classical witch (Harry Potter style magic), the girls who transform into an adult form, or groups who fight evil.

I've seen a few. But the one that really got me going on the genre would be Nanoha. Now THAT series actually didn't really feel like a magical girl anime at all! So yeah, I call that picky
