Ranma as Asuka Soryu Langley

A while back I came across a piece of fan art that was ostensibly of pensive looking Asuka with the ghostly images of Ryoga and Akane floating overhead - the implication being that here Asuka is actually Ranma thinking about her long lost friends.

I've seen stories where Ranma is a fellow pilot, bodyshares with Rei or Shinji, or replaces Misato, or Kaji.

Are there any stories where Ranma is Asuka in NGE? - I've not been able to find any so far - searches tend to give results for Asuka the White Lily from the Kodachi Date story.
Or merely give separate results for Ranma and Asuka.

Hmm... in all this time, I can't really recall seeing any story that had Ranma as Asuka, at least not offhand. I've probably seen one or two that only did it for humor. Maybe most of the writers prefer to treat her as an Akane-substitute (in terms of someone to fight against, gripe at Ranma, or whatever)/rival, I don't know.

I did have a basic idea where Gosunkugi, Akane and Ranma somehow end up becoming Shinji, Rei and Asuka, respectively, and Eva unwinds from the beginning, though. ^_^; (I considered posting it here, because it's only a few paragraphs and character notes, really - but I wasn't sure, as most of my notes usually don't fit the idea guidelines for the forum. )

I did have a basic idea where Gosunkugi, Akane and Ranma somehow end up becoming Shinji, Rei and Asuka, respectively, and Eva unwinds from the beginning, though. ^_^;

If you used a shoehorn, Gosunkugi could make a functional Shinji. It would take massive doses of tranquilizer for Akane to be Rei, however. If you need a Tendo, the best choice would be Kasumi.

Nabiki as Gendo, now, that might be interesting.

If you want to discuss an idea this has sparked for you, it probably is best to move that discussion to the ideas section and leave this thread for responses having to do with the fics being searched for.

I didn't recall any that fit this criteria, but now that I said that regarding your idea, it stirred vague memories of one where Ranma was Asuka. Maybe more will come to the surface later and I will be able to try to jog someone's memory.

Well, no. It's just a silly little idea I had sometime last year, or the year before that, during an IM session, so there isn't too much in it, beyond the starting notes and brief character notes for the above-mentioned three. It definitely doesn't fit the rules of Ideas (not that most of my idea notes do; Sunshine can attest to that... ^_^;;;; ).

that sounds interesting. Though you'd definitely need Elephant Tranq's to calm Akane down.

They are to pilot JAVA's, huge creatures that can only be piloted by someone with a Jusenkyo curse. There they mean Ranma, who is already a pilot, and who is incidentally engaged to one of them There they will also be reunited with their sister Kasumi, who is very quiet, rarely talking. And there they will come under the control of Ranma's father, Genma and their own father, Soun Tendovski...

Alas the PRFI only supposedly has one chapter zipped, Kevin's website is down and the Web Archive has been bot excluded.

However, it's still not Ranma as Asuka.

Kasumi isn't really Rei in NGJ; she's a Rei-like character, but not a direct substitute. Same for Ranma, who could be viewed as being a sort of Asuka in the story, as I recall.

Yeah, our server is down for the foreseeable future, unfortunately. I think I have backups of the NGJ stories, somewhere - but they're the C&C versions, from long ago, so I don't think I can release them. I can't remember if Kevin posted the chapters to his ff.net account, either; I'll have to see what's there. (Edit: He hasn't posted any of the chapters, there. )

As for elephant tranquilizers... that's covered by the notes... somewhat. She'd still likely be more emotional than the original Rei...

In The Hearts Battleground by Adrian Wong Ranma has the Asuka's role. You can find it on the Penultimate Ranma Fanfic Index.

I never read a Ranma/NGE crossover where Ryouga and Ranma are fellow pilots. I read only a fanfiction where they are both in the story and Ryouga was Toji.
And in Paradise Lost Ryouga fills the Shinji's role but the other characters are canon.

I read some fanfictions where Misato has directional problems inside the Nerv Headquarters. Is it fanon? Wouldn't be interesting Ryouga as Captain(or Major) Katsuragi?
