That may be Rankin Bass but it was from their Lord of the Rings presentation not The Hobbit. Its an interesting song. Strange how much they were drawn to look like the Goblins of The Hobbit.

No... the exact scene and song is from the animated tale put out by Warner Brothers called Return of the King, which is the sequel to their animated tale The Hobbit... My copy was part of a 2 VHS tape box set made back in 1996 I was converting to Digital form earlier today.

The song may be in the LOTR movies as well, but whomever uploaded the clip to Youtube did it right, that is not a music video, but a exact scene cut.

::sigh:: There are too many hobbits and lord of the rings versions. It has you arguing with me when I was trying to point out the title. I really did think it was Rankin Bass only without the help of Ghibli on the Lord of the Rings in that style. The song is not in any other version of Lord of the Rings that I know of.

Ahhh... you are correct, I misunderstood. Had I seen all of LOTR, I would have known that, as it is, I've only seen bits and pieces of that saga.

Speaking of VHS to Digital transfer. Here is The Hobbit. Its not all of it just the start. Someone posted the DVD version and well the people working on the remaster of the sound were less than half arsed about it.

Hmmm... my copy as stated is from a 1996 VHS box set, but I convert VHS raw at 720x480x8000 settings which I then process down to 640x480x2500 480i 4:3 aspect square pixel MP4 and clean up the edges before saving to my library area. The YouTube copy links to a lower 480x360 resolution version.

In regards to The Hobbit sound on my copy was clear enough, but I disliked most of the voices.

I've been going through all the non-digital media I've had around the house, VHS, cassette, and LP, and converting to digital formats... if it was already digital, like DVD or CD, I've not been bothering with it at this point.

67 non-anime retail VHS tapes so far converted to digital files and placed on the network, around 30+ anime VHS tapes so far converted.

By converting, and placing on my Network Synology Storage, I can stream to any TV with homebrewed HTPC connected or computer in the house.
