Why do people keep saying he's slower as a female? He's faster damnit!

In the anime, yes. However there are some people who think the anime's canonicity is questionable if it exists at all, because Takahashi had little to do with its creaton, if anything.
In the manga, I can't remember any conclusive evidence either way.

I think this opinion is based more on reality than any notion made in manga, women generaly are lighter and more flexible than men,

But they also have less muscle mass per pound of body weight and in absolute terms.
Take a look at sprinting records and probably distance running records at the Olympic level. Top male runners are always or virtually always faster than the top female runners.
Ranma's female form should NOT be faster than his natural form; the anime did a disservice by making "her" so.

How many times must we tell you? Faster running speed does not mean that a person is faster overall. And the main reason that the male athlete's running speeds are faster than the female ones is that the males are taller and have longer legs, which contributes a hell of a lot to how fast they can run.
The fact that the female form is more flexible and has less muscle density than the male form means that overall movement speed can be quite a bit faster. Remember, the more bulk you have in your muscles, the slower you get.

God I'm stupid! i forgot to mention any of the important facts from the story that I'm doing this with.
Oh well. Anyway, thanks for all your comments. When it comes to Taro I have a bit of trouble about playing favorites, so maybe now I can do the fight without being too biased.

I believe that women also have a higher pain tolerence than men and Ranma's smaller frame, as a girl, may also have somewhat better endurance since his heart doesn't have to work as hard as, say, Tarou's monster form to pump blood (I'm not sure but that was one of the advantages Junpei listed in "Those Who Hunt Elves")
BTW Dragonboy, I've been meaning to ask: Is your avatar taken from the Hard Battle Game?

That's mostly fanon and cultural lore - most of it wrong, unfortunately. Nearly every medical study on pain tolerance has shown that men - across the board - have a measurably higher tolerance than women do.

There's much more out there that is easily available with a simple Google search.

Yep, sure is. It was the best Taro pic I could find that I didn't have to worry about resizing. I own the game too, though it's been a while since I've played it.

Yeah, I've got it too (unfortunately I don't have a SNES anymore). I kinda prefer Super Hard Battle.
