I checked with WhoIs.net and the domain will expire in late 2026. It's registered to "The Sign of the Red-Headed Witch". The only non-Harry-Potter and non-fantasy RPG I can chase down that contains that title exactly is
The Wizardry Consulted, a 1995 novel by Rick Cook. Wikipedia says,
Rick Cook (born 1944) is a light fantasy author from the United States, best known for his Wizardry series of books. His writing includes many jokes that are hard to appreciate without having a background in systems-level programming, though the books themselves can easily be enjoyed by readers without such a background.
Now, Cook sounds very much like somebody who"d form a site dedicated to preserving fiction, and in fact, his blog says he
created thekeep.org. The blog itself is at
https://rickcooks.blogspot.com/ The most recent post was in 2017.
He had emergency heart surgery in 2000, and that (plus the medication) apparently stopped him right in the middle of a book. I live with a writer who has twice been stopped for a couple years that way, without the heart surgery bit. He was born in 1944, which puts him at 75 years of age. Mary Monica is 75, and her writing is sputtering at best. I'm 77. and don't do fiction any more (though I am compiling essays and writing nonfiction. And I seem to be doing some detection, because I didn't know thekeep.org existed until you mentioned it, and only had a faint memory of Rick Cook's existence. But it only took me about twenty minutes with a search engine to do the research.
So cut thekeep some slack. It may only be sleeping after a prolonged squawk. No guarantee it's dead.
The domain is still registered, but there's no guarantee about maintenance and hosting.
