I really like the new design!!!

Cheers. It is my first stab at CSS,, so it is a bit rough round the edges.

8 things I noticed:

Which happens when you get wrapped up in the design and forget to correct the errors!

You should apply here also the design you have changed the entiere site to.

They all load with the CSS. Perhaps you just needed to refresh the pages?

When one want to go from here to updates there is an error instead of

there should be

I see you still make the same mistake . . .
Here what you should use instead on all sites (but database of course):

I did it because your html's are in the same folder and only else when
it is in another folder/site put the folder/site in the link.

4.) Another thing . . . http://baseportal.com/baseportal/gallicus/main if
that is an php-file rename the link/name of the file there to
http://baseportal.com/baseportal/gallicus/main.php
if it's an html renma the link/name of the file there to
http://baseportal.com/baseportal/gallicus/main.html

The address is correct. Putting .html or .php at the end only serve to take you to an error page.

5.)
Is in your 'ranma.css' file really this line:

It's probably added by your hoster of the site? If it wasn't added and
stands directly in your 'ranma.css' file then remove it.

6.)
The 'new' gifs doesn't show probably because you've put on the wrong
link....
Also instead of putting it here:
http://free.1gbfreehost.com/IMAGES/new.gif
Put it there:
http://free.1gbfreehost.com/gallicus/IMAGES/new.gif
and remember that the folder as the same with the filenames should be
spelled letter by letter the same as the link!!!

which you should rename has also a link-errror:

Link corrected. Not good enough at database coding to make the above suggestion just yet.

And after all those changes and time my site is still not there.

Have patience. I wanted to update the look of the site and correct the errors first!

I have no idea what has happened to the site host. And since nothing seems to be happening I'll have to look for a new free host.
Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, no. Free hosts aren't what they used to be. Now, they clog the system with advertisements, popups, and automatic scripts that ruin the member sites. And they limit bandwidth so that if your site becomes popular, it goes offline for bandwidth overruns weekly.
The two best ways to have a site now is to either bite the bullet and cough up the cash to have your own (I'm paying $10 monthly for the Lost Library's hosting service) or find someone who already does and is willing to donate server space and bandwidth. That last is possible -- Anifics.com was open to it for awhile, although I believe that has been closed down because it's maxed out now. The other site I'm involved in, nettg.com, is hosted on donated space in a private, non-commercial server.

Well it has been fixed and the all the links rechecked. Finally. I can now start adding new sites like I'd planned almost a year ago.
