I've had a few requests since I did my little banner about making people some animated stuff, so I thought I'd offer my services to anyone who's interested.
Post here if you want to request an animated image. Include links to any images you want used in it. Just remember, if it's for an Avatar or Banner, make sure it's appropriately sized for such (see here for size details). You could use photobucket or imageshack to host any resized images you want used.

I suggest using imageshack. Photobucket only allows images and .gifs to be a certain file size. If they aren't then they resize them to a super small size. Anyway, Skaarj does great stuff. My new avvie is an example along with his sig.

I am locking this topic for a review of the site rules. We didn't anticipate animated avatars when writing the rules for them, so I need to discuss with Sunshine whether or not file sizes over 100kb are allowable.
If you can create animated gifs under 100kb, let me know by PM.

Okay, after discussing the topic with Sunshine, it has been decided officially that both animated avatars and animated sig images are permitted. However, they must both be no more than 100kb in file size.
The site rules are being edited to make this policy clear.

And I'll be trying to keep within those rules. So if your banner/avatar comes back smaller in dimensions than expected, it's because I'm trying to keep it within the file size limit.

Just curious but is it possible to control the amount of time of the fading effects? s'like with Himi's avvy, it quickly fades back and forth... well is it possible to draw out the amount of time each picture is shown?

Well, yes, but it does increase file size a little. I can see if I can get some more drawn out stops within the restrictions if you want.

Well how about I PM the pictures to you and you see what you can do with them? They are cutting rather close to the limited size in the first place... so....*shrugs*

Sure, I did start this thread with the purpose of offering to see if I could make animated stuff for people, so I'll give it a shot.

All right, Skaarj, I suppose I would like an animated avatar, if you've got time.......
I've got some images on imageshack already, but do they already need to be at a certain height and width? (Besides from the already posted 225 x 120 pixels and 8 Kb)
Because right now, only one of the ones I wish to use is currently at the right size, and also, one of them is in square format, and one is picture (i.e. rectangular)
I can change them around to suit your needs, and I think I'd like rectangular format, so what do I need to switch around before I send/link you the images?

Just give me the links now. I can alter the images as needed once I receive them.
As for the final size, depends on how big I can make it and still be within 100kb. They usually turn out around the 100+ pixel mark in height, which is about what my current one is. We'll just have to see when it's done.

Hmm, I think I'll go with the first, if that's all right.
The effect in the second is interesting, but I think I'd like to stick with just the pics....
I personally think the words may subtract from the switch, but that's just for my set.....
IMO, it depends on the pictures, and the word art used, as well as how long the words are
EDIT: Got it working, and it's very good.
I hereby endorse Skaarj as an animated avatar.....uh....."maker".

A transition delay around 2-3 seconds if you can. A transition time a little longer than on your avatar would be cool to if it fits in space constraints.
I tried putting these thrue an archaic version of gif construction set I had laying around but it doesnt have transition effects and it made the images really gritty.

After the time I spent working on them it just wasnt right, so I figured Id seek professional help. :wink:
