Dear goodness... :?
You think they would learn, that the factual knowledge of the bridge's height would spread!

I've already told the story how I barely avoided participating in one such accident -- and I was around the railroad crossings for, like, two hours in my life total.

Heh, and me, i've practically grown up around railroads, because well, my parents both worked with railroads, both my brothers did, more or less, both my grandfather's did, and then my eldest brother was involved a lot in steamengines as well... And never once been close to any accidents. Despite actually hanging around on railway yards and the like oh so many times.

Love it for being funny and *also* featuring a Turbo Pascal manual. So nostalgic

Not bad. A bit smaller than the time i used most of my lego to build one single HUGE ship. :P
I never did manage to make it float though, sadly.

Huh, Jeroen Ottens, where do i recognise that name from...

It's the crossings, man! The dreaded crossings.

I wanted that bitty computer too, but apparently it's no longer available. Settle for the nano-trainset, and see if you can find some nano-trucks just for the impact.

There's a recent ad on TV I can't help seeing as funny, one of the very few during many years.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuxTrNx0w9g
Spoiler: Sausage brand "Dad could", the clip is titled "Dad is coming home":

that was hilarious.

They began their ad campaign with tame stuff like a little girl almost dislocating her jaw to bite into a very thick sandwich, the teacher asking her "did your dad make it for you?"
Then it gradually evolved, first to sweaty shirtless vikings with more muscles that Schwarzenegger, then finally to this.
Dad could

While I do not know what was being said,

100% consists of "they are coming!" / "Dad is driving home".

You folks know that a Jacob’s ladder is one of a Mad Scientist’s Must-Haves, right? After all, what is a SCIENCE! lab without something buzzing and crackling somewhere?

Now, here is one a bit heftier than the garden variety: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-Y9Nz33nfI

At fourty kilovolts and two-and-a-half ampères, it should surprise no-one that it stays inside a fully-equipped high-voltage lab. Also, I am pretty certain it has a 50Hz AC feed, so it sounds suitable DOOMy inside that cavern.

I've made a couple of those, though not to such power levels. I used a 15 kV neon-sign transformer, which has built-in current limiting, and a couple brass rods. (That was during my time as a professional Mad Scientist. Had more fun with lasers, though.)

If you want REAL electro-power, the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia has a lightning machine that throws an enormous, deafening, spots-in-your-retina bolt. Not one of those wimpy Tesla coils, either; I suspect it was a Cockroft-Walton generator with some real healthy capacitors. I made one of those myself, but the capacitors I made didn't stand the voltage very long. I should have used thicker Mylar sheet when setting them up.

Here is a different type of voltage multiplier: The Marx generator. It charges a capacitor bank through high-value resistors and then connects the charged capacitors in series with spark gaps. The builder estimated the unit to be firing 300kV sparks.

I just scared myself. I thought of a Tesla coil used as a HT transformer and coupled through a Cockcroft-Walton multiplier to a Marx stack.

Driving across the bottom of a lake https://youtu.be/6cFrkr8zHxA?t=908

So nostalgic and so sad, that was the same model as our last car. We sold it in the nineties (as soon as the family of wagtails finished raising their young in their nest under the hood) because I deemed having a car impractical and never learned to drive.
These dudes installed a custom air filter in place of a spare wheel under the hood and smeared silicone sealant all over everything electrical.

*lol*

I just have to ask, WHY?! What were they doing? The editing makes it hard to figure out where they started with the car and what they wanted...

Crazy though, lol...

Feels like if they were getting it across, that it would have been easier to float it over, an empty barrel or pontoon in each corner and it would have gone nicely. Because driving across on the bottom, damn, lake bottoms can be REALLY treacherous.
