Yes, I know it is a trope that they must snag a dry slice of toast to munch on the way; hence why I referred to the speed demon part as a sort-of trope as I do not know for any value of certain if it as an all-out trope.

But the train driver’s face… And, yes they are train drivers over there. USA and Canada are about the only countries to call them locomotive engineers – nothing to do with ‘ingenieur’ and all to do with overseeing/managing a large engine.
