Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha

Talk about other General Anime and Manga Series here

For the first one, note that both combatants are Nine years old, Nanoha is a recent mage, and while Fate would have had more training, we can't be sure of the quality at that point in time.

For the second, I only counted 3 or 4 cartridges being used, while she did replace the magazine, it is very posible, and infact likely, that she had used up some cartidges before that point and was simply finishing off that clip. It should also be noted that Nanoha was employing the experimental Blaster system for that shot which would raise it's power even more above what most mages are capable of than cartridges alone.

For the third, that was also an instance of Nanoha using the Blaster System.

I hate FOG3 There he goes rekindling my interest in the series... And I still haven't seen any peep of that movie...

It should be out next winter. I've seen some of the redesigns they're doing on RH and Nanoha's barrier jacket; Shooting Mode looks absolutely badass with the new rifle grip they're sticking on it, so Nanoha holds it a lot like a Hyper Mega Launcher straight out of Gundam. Let's see if I can find the image...

Here we go.

I hate to say it but Fate only has the initiative for that brief period where she's able to do whatever the shackle things are called and go wild with it, and she wasn't even able to exploit that effectively. The rest of the fight Nanoha is clearly turning in her OODA loop, and thus dominating.

It's five. I rewatched and counted five times to make sure, it's five catridges expended on the charge up. Seems as how those are like a 20mm grenade form factor & it's a single stack, how many more rounds would you have for a magazine beyond that? The OICW only carried 6 20mm grenades.

The third vid uses 2 cartridges, and is a lot smaller scale.

Are you indicating they're good about not doing the infinite ammo 6 shooters thing? I'm not buying Hollywood or Japan is going to actually learn to actually count rounds and track mags lightly.

Otherwise thanks for the info.

Hey, I had to wait years and years for Teknoman to finally get licensed with what could barely be called a beacon of hope, and Viz still is setting on several worthwhile manga titles.

Remember that battle is as much in the mind as with the body. During their previous encounters Fate was the one who dominated, but by the time that last encounter happened, Fate had several reasons to doubt her path, while Nanoha was determined to win so she could hear Fate's side of the story.

During As the Wokenritter are shown reloading and keeping track of their cartridge usage. After Fate and Nanoha get Cartridge Systems on their Devices they are also shown with spare clips (for Nanoha) or a quick reload holder (for Fate's revolver style) and in at least one instance, snag them up from a desk counter when they are told to deploy. And I know at least Nanoha is shown to replace clips a few times, though I would assume that there are reloads that occur "off screen" during the battles since they can't show everything, the overall impression is that it DOES happen.

Okay, that's enough.

A clip loads a magazine, in cases like the M1 Garand the magazine is internal to the gun. If it is not loading a magazine or revolver cylinder it is not a clip.

A magazine is an eclosure that holds the cartridges and possesses a spring. You load a revolver's cylinder with a Moon Clip also sometimes known as speedloaders, although that usually refers to a specific more complicate device that does the same thing. A Moon Clip that loads the entire cylinder is a Full Moon Clip, the other alternative being fractions there of.

When you're mutilating the terminology to the point you're calling the magazine a clip and the clip something you just threw together you need to be corrected.

I usually saw the occurrences during the insert songs generally as a peak indication of what they can do at that time. Though StrikerS seems to be a constant case of one-upsmanship. :p Not that's it's bad mind you, it makes for one heck of a visual experience. Down side is, they set the bench mark pretty darn high for the movie now. :p

And when you're being rude when you don't have to, you need to be corrected too FOG. There's no need to be snappish about such inconsequential things as correct terminology, gentle corrections like "Actually what you're calling a clip is actually a magazine. A clip is... (fill in explanation here)" work just as well and are less likely to irritate people than biting their heads off for no good reason.

Not sure how you turned a gentle chargrin in a neutral tone into a "snappish" response, but if it makes you happy, fine.

I believe it may have been your word choice, such as the "Now that's enough" and the "you need to be corrected". It overall didn't give me the impression of a rebuke so much as a hand being slamed onto a table and a correction being shouted across it followed by sitting back with a frown, as opposed to someone sighing and simply stating the correction.

Another thing that might have helped would be too return to the primary discussion in the same post. By making the correction the sole content of your post in gives added emphasis to it, whereas if you had continued the discussion in that post after making the correction it would have made it more of something minor you were simply pointing out, rather than giving the impression to others that you were blowing it out of proportion.

I will try to remember the correction and use the terms properly in the future and thank you for the information though.

Closer to assault rifle rounds, judging from the size of the ejected brass and the loose rounds shown on both Nanoha's and Fate's desks.

And while I'm not sure, I believe that Fate's revolver-style holds 8 cartridges; I'm basing that on the brief scenes we're shown of it and from her filled speed-loaders. I'm guessing that Nanoha's magazine holds at least as many, if not more.

The Knights seem to be limited to four 'rounds', at least based on Vita's weapon (I'm not really sure about Signum, though she's actually shown reloading the most I think, usually one 'round' at a time).

Good? I'm not really sure, but they are shown reloading (usually for the cool-factor).

Heads up ladies and gentlemen, we've got ourselves a trailer of the upcoming Nanoha movie to drool over, fresh out of the Tokyo International Anime Fair!

http://en.gigazine.net/index.php?/news/comments/20090318_anime_fair2009_nanoha/

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but that fight scene between 1:38 and 1:48 has got me chomping at the bit to get a look at the completed project.
