How might Nerima change?

Have a cookie anyway, it was kind of obscure- the Peking Homonculus was a monster from the 4th era of Doctor Who; a diminutive android in the form of a traditional Chinese ventriloquist's doll controlled by a bio-mech brain based around a pig's cerebral cortex. The 4th Doctor fought it in Victorian London.

Glad you like my setup, and that idea about the subconscious rattling off sounds like a good one. So, what else do we need for her now? Perhaps to work out her relations etc given her new base-concept?

One thing about relationships that comes to me is that she has an (unknown by him) crush on Marumaru, and thus she frantically tries to cover up her knowledge of the supernatural and/or magical power whenever he's around. For a bit of added drama, the intensity of her emotions tends to cause mana flares. It might also be a switch to have it that Marumaru, unbeknownst to her, isn't mocking/skeptical/hateful of magic; he gives it no thought at first, but once he gets to know the other Neo-Crew members he simply accepts it as part of reality. In fact, though it might be a bit too Negima, perhaps he even starts considering the idea of blending magic and science (ala that "girl genius" in Negima who built the robot girl)?

The changes to her relationship with Marumaru sound good, and Negima isn't the only series to ever have "Technomagic" it's one of the base concepts for the Nanoha series, and is even mentioned in Metroid Prime 3, so having Marumaru take an intrest in it should be perfectly fine. Considering her crush on Marumaru, there could be some instances, particularly with those who attend the school, where her interactions with them are based more on how THEY interact with Marumaru. So having one person (Yemon perhaps) how she meets before they meet Marumaru could help add to her character since they might notices differences in how she acts......

Alrighty then, what else do we need for her? Oh, have you come up with a name for her yet? If we're done with her, who shall we look at next? Ukyo & Mousse's kid, the yokai assassin, Michiko's siblings or the Trio?

Best thing I can think of for a name would be "Sakuya", which was the name of a famous/legenedary Miko in Japanese legend/history (I think)......

Ukyo and Mousse's kid should probably be done next I think.

Well, considering we worked out way back that Michiko has a crush on a guy, which helps make her oblivious to Yemon's crush (I think), and as it's the last of the New Guard (the offspring of the Old Guard), then I think a boy works for the gender- what do you think?

Let's see, what else do we need for this guy... hmm... I think I may have mentioned this before, but what do you think of the idea that, for his fighting style, he basically incorporates what he sees as the most practical elements of his parents' respective styles to make something new? Basically, his core style is ninjitsu, but he blends in elements of Hidden Weapons- primarily the usage of ki warps to conceal stuff in. If I recall right, the original image I had of him was him using relatively "normal" ninjitsu, but wielding a Freakin' Big Weapon (think greataxe, polearm or zweihander type thing) as his offensive implement, using Hidden Weapons tricks picked up from his dad to make it more deadly. So, basically, instead of pulling out a plethora of stuff, he appears unarmed until he gets close and then whips out an impossibly-huge weapon from outta nowhere.

So rather than "throwing everything AND the kitchen sink" at the enemy, he learns a few weapon styles (with his large weapon as the main and a few secondarys) and uses Hidden weapons to store them. With Extras as well so even if you disarm him or break his weapon he'll just pull another out?

To add to the Ninja style, perhaps he could also make use of wires and throwing knives for distracting and "tieing down" opponents......

We might need to do that for all the characters you and I have discussed while we're waiting for Jupiah, come to think of it. So, where do you want to start? Physical appearance, personality, or possible techniques?

I say personality first, then appearance. Considering the way Hidden weapons seems to work, once we have that we could somewhat tailor some of the techniques to work with it......

Alright then, what can we make for his personality? Both of his folks were somewhat obsessive (well, Mousse was obsessive, Ukyo just has a very strong sense of personal pride- I think. You might want to check out Revenge! Raging Okonomiyaki and her first episode; see how you end up interpretating it.) but, on the other hand, we don't want him to be identical to them. Mousse is kind of flighty, but Ukyo is pretty down-to-earth. I can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

For somereason I currently have an image of someone who is curious yet relaxed in my head, Friendly, but with a temper that can flare......

Overall I'm kinda thinking of someone that Yemon could befriend early on when he's newly arrived, then they find out about who Yemon's parents are, causing a lot of friction, but with the possibility of the friendship/rivalry being rebuilt later......

Makes sense; Yemon needs a "Ryoga" type character; someone who can be both a rival in skill and a friend if circumstances warrant. And who better than the offspring of rivals for both of his parents?

So, generally rather laid back, but has a rather potent temper boiling away underneath which can be "tapped" with shocking ease. Hmm... what is his attitude towards his parents and/or their styles? The fact he doesn't practise one thing or the other implies that there may be issues between him and them (or simply that he finds their styles both goofy and I'm reading too much into that). Hmm... given Mousse probably swore an oath never to return to China, I think the Neo-Kuonji may be curious about China in general or life amongst the Chinese Amazons in specific; he knows that their blood is in his veins, but he doesn't know anything about them except perhaps beyond the odd rituals and sayings Mousse comes up with. Think that might be one element that makes him friendly towards Yemon?

Indeed I do, in fact, one of the things that I thought of for helping them to "reconcile" later on was Yemon getting permision to teach/pass on/have someone else teach the Neo-Kounji some of the Amazon techs that Mousse woudn't have known/learned.

I was also thinking that finding out Yemon is an amazon could actually be one of the things that cause them to be friends early on. the neo-Kounji hears Yemon is one, and admits to his father being one but refusing to return to/contact the tribe because of issues. And then he starts to ask Yemon about them.

Depending on how Mousse and Ukyo have changed or not over the time frame, he might treat them differently. Example: if Mousse still refuses to wear his glasses most of the time, the he (the son) could respect his fighting ability, but be prone to sweatdropping at his antics. I could also see him practicing the Okonomiyaki styles martial arts somewhat casually to please his mom even if he doesn't think of it as a "pratical" style. (this would also explain his having elements of it in his main style)
