I'm mainly a fan of older series, since I've been too poor to buy even manga, let alone anime, since 2004, and my fanfic habits are annoyingly narrow...basically Ranma (particularly Onna-Ranma-heavy stories, as the character strikes me as trying to be overly masculine in order to compensate for the girl-side's natural femininity), Futaba-kun Change! (which we all know, unfortunately, no one actually writes) and other transformation-related original materials. I've also been on-and-off fond of Sailor Moon over the years...
I prefer to deal with divergences from canon history, but OOC-ness in the characters I read is another thing entirely and I'm quite annoyed by it. I think Akane deserved a boy-curse more than anyone in the entire cast, that Jusenkyo curses are brought upon their sufferers for a reason (all except Ranma's being in this lifetime), and that the curse one receives definitely reflects their inner character. For this reason, I try not to read too many 'pool of drowned something-else' fics when Ranma's the one getting dunked in another pool; he (or should I even say she?) in particular is mainly himself due to his specific curse. I'm not much more tolerant of character-fitting shortcomings in other fandoms, either, though since Ranma was my first fandom, I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised that it's the one I'm most a stickler for. Despite this, I enjoy crossover work, and spent a particularly lost period trying to catch up on all the R 1/2--Harry Potter crosses out there, of which there really aren't all that many (but most are surprisingly well-written, which as we know is saying a lot for either fandom's writers
I'll respond to PMs, but don't expect too much else from me unless I get an evil plotbunny in my mind, in which case I'll most likely toss it out in the open because I can't write fanfic to save my life (it's not that the characters are out of character; it's that if you've ever seen my Webcomic, you know how much trouble I have pulling together a plot...and right now, even my silver bullet of dialogue talent seems to be missing).
And, as you've just seen with this post, I have particular problems wrapping something up and just ending it...
