My New Site

Where stuff about fanfiction that doesn't fit into any other category goes. Try to make sure that new topics here actually couldn't actually go somewhere else.

My New Site

Postby Wytecastl » Mon Mar 19, 2007 11:50 pm

I posted this at Anifics, but they went down a couple days later, so I figured I'd give it a post here too.

About 2 weeks ago, I was sitting at home browsing Rakhal's index (you know the one), and I thought to myself, "I wonder if I could make a site like this, but dynamic and php driven..."

So I gave it a shot.
Originally, I was just going to make it as kind of a cool way to organize my bookmarks, but I kept building on it, and decided I should open it up so that others could use it too.

It's still in the kind of beta testing phase, but I've gotten a fair amount done I think.
Adding new stories can be done by registered users, which is a pretty simple process, though it requires a valid email (much like a forum).
There's a number of tags and such that can be assigned to a story's entry, and I plan on adding more when I think of them, or when enough people request them.

There's a search function. It's a bit primitive, but it seems to work alright.
There's more functionally I plan on adding (yes, there would be a very large crossover list along the way), should the community show interest in having such a site.
Of course if it doesn't, I guess I'll just keep it to myself hehe ;)

Anyways, you can check it out at http://fics.lsevil.com

Let me know what you think.

The anifics forum isn't gone. It was just being shifted to a new server and is back online now. The downtime was due to the time it took for the name server to propagate the change in DNS.

In other words, when Sol shifted the "anifics.com" name to the new server, it took several hours for the internet to catch up.

Hmm, my DNS servers must be on the slower end of the internets then, because I still get the same pages (at least they look the same) with the message:

Code: Select all
AniFics - The Anime Fanfiction is currently closed

I'll be quite happy when I can see them again though.

That's at your end. Try deleting the cache in your browser. Anifics forum is definitely operating right now. I can get to it without any problems.
