Lets break it in.

Recently there's been a hell of a breakthrough http://youtu.be/6XJDUY4OYX0

This has brought to mind interesting points i was thinking of before about life stile and world effects to having much better power storage.

I was thinking on it for a plot im poking, how introducing power cells and energy storage ala fallout 3

Where as something the size of 3tripple a's runs a bike for years, or powers a person size robot.

What kinda changes would start showing up from this? You wouldn't need your house tied to the power grid if you could plug in something that powers it for a year.

Well, one thing that needs to be remembered is that the energy doesn´t disappear, it´s all there in whatever it´s stored in.
So, if there´s a way for the storage to somehow become volatile, the amount of potential energy is HUGE, a potentially very BIG "bang". Or if released uncontrollably into whatever it´s connected to, produce a power spike on a scale that would likely burn or melt almost anything.

Houses anywhere near a powergrid would probably still be connected ( but have a power pack as backup ), but housing elsewhere would be much easier to handle power for.

Nuclear submarines would mostly become obsolete(their biggest advantage nullified(extended subsurface operating time), while their biggest drawback(noisy) is still there).

Electric cars would likely become the standard. With no need for hundreds of kg of batteries, the advantages of electric engines are just too big to ignore.
