Ranma "Classics"

and I'm going to have to put Tattoon Ranma up here for sheer brutal awesomeness. (it's strange, so far on this board i have seen mention of a great numer of authors who even I had forgotten about but no mention of AnimeAddiction or of Bloody Paintbrush and on that note)

As much as I like some of AnimeAddiction's fics, a lot of people have problems with the fact that he portrays Ranma as way too overpowered, and the fact that he removes the curse from the equation several times.

Eh, The Bet is more of a project than a single fic. There were lots of good and lots of bad in it -- way too many were just not long enough either.

Yes its a Ranma as a girl fic, which to any of you that know me know I avoid. Ranma is only slightly out of character, and it is a Ranma/Tenchi cross/pairing. but if you overlook the sudden change in Ranma, which does have reasons but even I felt it was too fast, it is still a good fic, and worth mentioning.

Oh man... I remember sitting and reading every last fic of worthwhile length in the Evangelion category of the old RAAC archives, then when I ran out, all the Ranma-fics because that was the only title I recognized other than NGE...
Thrythlind (http://www.fanfiction.net/~thrythlind) has written several of my all-time favorites:
The Amazon and the Moneylender - pretty much the only Shampoo/Nabiki fic I've ever seen, sadly abandoned over five years ago
Genma's Journal - the original Evil Genma fic, proposing the idea that *all* of Ranma's misadventures were actually planned by Genma in order to keep him off balance and under control
Lost Innocence - another classic, the first full-length, serious Ranma-gets-drugged fic, where everyone gets to face the consequences
Ryoko Saotome - the other classic Ranma/Ryoko fic, where Ranma and Ryoko after losing their respective intendeds end up in the wrong line at he registrar's office and have to stay married for a week
There are a ton of non-ranma stuff and shorter tales I just can't remember reading at the moment as well... Too bad the addventure seems to have swallowed him whole.

Incidently, doesn't it seem odd that with the rise in popularity of ff.net that the era of "classics" came to a close? Oh, there are some quite excellent authors still out there (Ozz comes to mind as one), but the vast majority of the best of Ranma fanfiction seems to come from the pre-ff.net times.
