Ah... gonna swap control. Give me a sec.

The other commission Curtis asked for is done now. So this is what a more realistic version of me in full costume would look like, huh? *smiles* Me like.

Makes me happy that Curtis was smart enough to find someone else to do it. You've seen his attempts at drawing me; they're a little bit too cartoonish for my tastes.

Okay, okay, I've been tempted enough. I've never been a Spamvilleite, but some time ago, I did a lot of tabletop RPG. Here's one from a Dungeon adventure during the reign of Richard Nixon. (I'm the Spiderist priestess tying the vampire stake to the drinking bird.)

It's just... well, I can only handle the anime-esque look for so long, alright?

*blinks* ...Wow. That actually looks a lot like something that could happen around here. Those must've been fun.

Oh, that was nothing. The real fun started when we were playing Champions. By the way, the pictures get larger when you click them. Captain Mercaptan (whose name is funnier if you know both organic chemistry and "The Boy Stood on the Burning Deck" was one of my favorite characters. The giant is just somebody generic. Don't wanna dis the other folks' characters, after all. That's for the games.

Have you been bothering my pet SM.JPG

Oh, I perfectly understand that. While anime-style is fine for various things, it does tend to get boring. Hence why I've also worked on long since branching out into various other styles. More 'cartoony' and varied styles can be a lot more fun to do. Experimenting and all.

And Ellen, your art is really neat. I like it~

Unfortunately, it's more "my art was really neat." I haven't been doing much these last few years, though I did educational comic strips back when I was still at the museum. Here's a cover from a comic strip that never took off ...

On that note, I think you draw a pretty good Batman.

*chuckles* Heh. Shame it never did; I would've liked to read it.

Agreement on Konoko's Batman. It's the clear, clean, animated-style Batman.

CRBWildcat wrote:*chuckles* Heh. Shame it never did; I would've liked to read it.

If you want to read the character sheets, they're at Supers on my web site. Story synopses at Fiction, and "Icarus has a really bad week" was finished. It's down at the bottom of Fiction. I did all the art except for Ryoko (off the net) and Icarus (Carl Gafford).

When I was just learning to draw, I busted my buns trying to get Curt Swan's style. Never worked. To my surprise, I was able to get into the Archie Comics house style quite easily. Managed to widen my horizons by studying Bob Powell's work, and did editorial cartoons for the university paper. Got to be fairly decent at it, but I was extremely slow, so I never had that much of a corpus. On the other hand, I hang on to things. I still have the art (or representatives thereof), even fifty-some years later. Even a slow artist has a fair bit of work if you keep it for a lifetime.

Awww, it's a shame you haven't kept up on drawing, Ellen.

Also, thanks. That's like... the third time I've drawn Batman (Well, normal Batman. Not counting the whole 'BatDoll' AU thing I've been fiddling with).
