There's absolutely nothing wrong with Discord, as it's a great instant messenger service. That, and being able to communicate with others on various servers is nice to

Also, Shrek is being rebooted

I don't mind being on Discord, but on the whole I've had some bad history with chat programs where more than two people are involved. ()^_^

The only chat I'm on right now is IMVU.

Been looking for a fanfic (ranma centric perfered) discord for a while. I think it's generally a pretty dece site/app. I would NOT compare it to Twitter. Its more like a bit more flexible skype, hangouts, or mirc style chat rooms. Pictures are drag and drop, you can have multiple chats on the same channel. You can set up age gating, do vid calls. really, I generally like it.

I'm just skittish about the sorts of groups I join. I'm actually in a handful of art related ones, as well as several Magic the Gathering discords. I'm even in one creative one called 'The Muse Tavern'... but I'm not sure about posting fan fic there as much. Not that they wouldn't be helpful. The issue is they cover a lot of ground creatively, and I would like more focused suggested and commentary...

That and the more ephemeral aspects of a chat. That is, unlike a forum, if you aren't around for a post, unless you were tagged, you will likely miss it. But then, Forums have their issues too. ^_^;

But yeah, if there was a discord specific to Ranma fanfiction writing, I would join in a heart beat XD

I think Ranma fanfiction as a whole has dipped horribly in the last few years, right?

or is there still a good production?

Just in overall quantity, really; accounting for both new stories and updates to existing ones. The quality's always been a mixed bag. Plus, a lot of newer authors aren't English speakers. And it doesn't help that anime, manga and video games haven't provided a lot of good crossover material for a while, either.

There's never been a lot of stories worth reading at any one time, in my experience, so the small list of relatively recent stories I've liked or followed out of some interest is no surprise to me:

Make or Break
Making Waves
Master Thy Self
Ranma Ball Z
Weapon of Choice
Ranma: All Good Things
All the World's a Stage
A Spark for the Fire
Hyperdimension Ranma
No Pedigree Save Chaos
Home is Where Your Curse is -> Taming the Wild Horse

I used to like Ranma fics a lot more than I do now. Don't know why I've more or less stopped. :( As it is, Taming the Wild Horse and Claymade's The Dark Lords Ascendant are the only ones I'm keeping track of at present.

As a side note related to the former story, I started a trope page within the past year for that particular duology. *shrug* If that's anyone's thing.

Rnama Ball Z sounds interesting.

I have a new story idea. One that I don't think has been done before.

Kaiju turned into magical girls. In their magical girl form they'd still have aspects of their monster forms (Godzilla still having a tail) but when they power down they just turn into normal girls.
