I think the reason why there is speculation that the new female protagonist is Ash's daughter is because she has Black Hair like Ash and Blue Eyes like Serena, which leads some people to think that Liko is Ash and Serena's daughter. There is also the matter of her hair clip, which looks a lot like the Pokemon League Symbol on his first Trainer hat. It's going to be interesting to find out if the speculations that some people are coming up with come true.

Liko is Ash and Serena's daughter.

I never was much into Pokemon... but thinking of Ash from what I recall and then reconciling that with any offspring... that's somewhat unsettling...

That's not my speculation. It's probably just a coincidence that Liko turned out looking that way after she was drawn. Although, it doesn't surprise me that Ash and Pikachu are being retired. There's nothing more for them to do.
