I'm probably on the safe side, then. I certainly drink tea a-plenty.

Actually not exactly news to me. I follow a Japanese mostly retired doctor on FB, for his physics ramblings(and sometimes great photos), which while mostly nonsensical still comes up with interesting questions sometimes, early summer, when Covid19 came up in a discussion, a doctor friend of his commented about that studies regarding tea was ongoing as they had found that green tea of the matcha type had been found to bind to the ACE2 receptors which counteracted the bloodvessel "clogging" that Covid19 could cause.
The effects were unreliable and unpredictable however, so it's no panacea, but MIGHT help.

The one thing that's come up for certain so far is that you do not want to have a lack of vitamin D. This became very blatant both in UK and here in Sweden, where mortality rates among people originally from sun-rich countries were 4 times higher than average, and traced back to low levels of vitamin D as a primary reason.

Much as I prefer longwave, mediumwave and shortwave, http://dir.xiph.org/ is a nice source of webwave stations.

It's still near Christmas, and some unnamed fool has been taunting us with Anglo-Saxon. What could I do but bring out this?

Incipit gestis Rudolphi rangifer tarandus

Hwæt, Hrodulf readnosa hrandeor --
Næfde þæt nieten unsciende næsþyrlas!
Glitenode and gladode godlice nosgrisele.
þa hofberendas mid huscwordum hine gehefigodon;
Nolden þa geneatas Hrodulf næftig
To gomene hraniscum geador ætsomne.
þa in Cristesmæsseæfne stormigum clommum,
Halga Claus þæt gemunde to him maþelode:
"Neahfreond nihteage nosubeorhtende!
Min hroden hrædwæn gelæd þu, Hrodulf!"
þa gelufodon hira laddeor þa lyftflogan --
Wæs glædnes and gliwdream; hornede sum gegieddode
"Hwæt, Hrodulf readnosa hrandeor,
Brad springþ þin blæd: breme eart þu!"

Hrodulf the Red-Nosed Reindeer

(Modern English translation)

Here begins the deeds of Rudolph, Tundra-Wanderer

Lo, Hrodulf the red-nosed reindeer --
That beast didn't have unshiny nostrils!
The goodly nose-cartilage glittered and glowed.
The hoof-bearers taunted him with proud words;
The comrades wouldn't allow wretched Hrodulf
To join the reindeer games.
Then, on Christmas Eve bound in storms
Santa Claus remembered that, spoke formally to him:
"Dear night-sighted friend, nose-bright one!
You, Hrodulf, shall lead my adorned rapid-wagon!"
Then the sky-flyers praised their lead-deer --
There was gladness and music; one of the horned ones sang
"Lo, Hrodulf the red-nosed reindeer,
Your fame spreads broadly, you are renowned!"

Does that count as weirdness?

Certainly looks plenty different, more so if one is neither Angle nor Saxon.

I can kinda deal with Chaucerian English. (Gilbert Shelton did a wonderful job of illustrating a version of "The Miller's Tale" translated into Hippie.) Shakespeare, no problem. Old English, or any flavor of Norse, I'm helpless. And I can read 19th-century technical French, but no guarantees for other centuries and topics.

I'm told Joyce's Finnegan's Wake is quite understandable to one who grew up in the Dublin of his days. I had no trouble reading Chester Anderson's The Butterfly Kid, but that was the New York dialect of Hippie, and I understood the Minnesota dialect. And Mary Monica Pulver wrote a mystery short where the solution turned upon Navy jargon, vs. Navy argot. (She was in the Navy, and had a sailor on every ship.)

Isn't language fun?

It can certainly keep you busy at least.

Does that count as weirdness?

Yes, because some of those wordings just makes me go "eh?".
The first version especially, does not seem to stick with a single language.
