My introduction to Postman Pat was in 1992.
I was in Coventry, England on an archaeological dig at nearby Roman fort.
One Saturday I was in a mall and heading to the second level via the escalator when a child of about four looked at me and said "Hello, Postman Pat!"
It took me a moment to realize the child was talking to me - and a further moment to realize why.
I was wearing a light blue, collared, button down shirt, dark blue trousers and had a satchel bag over my shoulder - so yes, I looked like I could be a postman.
I smiled, waved and said 'hello' to the child and continued on my way ( not that I had a choice, being on the escalator).
I found out later who Postman Pat was from one of the instructors at the dig, who had small children.
And for a day or so I was called Postman Pat.
