So yeah, checking some things on FF.net and noticed they changed how you do the filter settings. Not being able to tell what a crossover is in the overall crossover for a series is. Having to fix all my bookmarks for them is a tad annoying also. Just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on the new stuff.

Seems kind of silly to add another step in the process to save so little vertical space. -_-

I could care less about the filters, as I pretty much do not use them.

The fixing of the category bookmarks is a bit more annoying, but is only a few, and they work, just not show all...

HOWEVER, while none of the above affect me enough to overly care, the removal of the crossover tags from the crossover section is another matter entirely... It is pure stupidity from a UI standpoint to remove those tags.

I Am Not Pleased At All...

In fact, it prompted me, along with dozens of others to leave a response on their blog. It makes the crossover sections all but worthless.

There is a loophole in it... the crossover ATOM/RSS feeds still have no filtering, and still have the proper crossover tag identifiers in it... I likely will use those going forward.

Meh, what irks me the most is the fact that it came out of nowhere and didn't even get a mention on the main page.

Stupid morons! Now it takes even longer than before to change rating to all, damn thing was annoying enough before, that you can´t set a standard yourself, and now this added, equals even more annoying...

I don´t freakin care about having animated menus and pretty pictures or whatever, please give me functionality!

Unfortunately, the more superficial something is, the more likely it's going to be considered progress these days.

Sadly, i´m afraid you´re probably right. :(

Speaking of crossovers, know what I wish they'd do? Let authors choose at least up to three, instead of just two. They already show two in the crossover section, so it's not like it'd make a difference if the third one isn't shown because of the section you're looking in. For instance, if it were Ranma 1/2 crossovers, and your story was Ranma 1/2, Sailor Moon and Tenchi Muyo, you'd only see the last two because the first one is obvious.

Yeah, that would REALLY be a good thing. Lots of stories have 3 or even 4, but few have more, and it would let you find a bunch of stories you would otherwise miss, just because the one crossover it might be listed as isn´t one you think would be interesting, or even take the time to check.

Would also like crossovers to be propely visible when looking at your own favs and alerts, because sometimes it gets silly difficult to find what you´re looking for, just because it lists a story under only one category, and in worst case, it´s the category you didn´t think of.

Well... since they restored crossover tags in the crossover section, there is only one thing I've been wanting for about 8 years now since they originally promised it.

Story level RSS Feeds... They have author ones, category ones, C@ ones, and just in... but not story level.

I had asked about this back in May 2006 just after author feeds were introduced and they said they would eventually have them.

Ahhh... nuts... Looks like FanFiction.NET is doing something with the RSS/ATOM feed system... the Just In feed stopped working a few hours ago... and just now all the category feeds just cut out.

I do not think many are on that system, but I far prefer it to their email setup...

More as I know it.
