Fireworks are for wusses
https://youtu.be/sit4oC-eHt4?t=48Found this because I finally sorted through my collection of thermionic valves (It's like a dragon hoard! My shinies!) and it has
one of these beasts sitting between them like a cow among ducklings. It served in the horizontal scan block of the infamously combustible Soviet TVs. It's like EL509 but more brutal, with higher current for cathode heating. I vaguely remember from my early childhood that our such TV tried combusting once but Mom dealt with it, somehow.
Would be nice if they weren't making PCBs out of paper laminated with Bakelite
And back cover of very flammable plastic with tiny, tiny ventilation slits. That, and a light bulb detonating and tearing half of the chandelier into glass shrapnel are my most vivid childhood memories about electric apparatuses
Scary.
