No, their goal from the start was to drive it underwater like bosses. 8)

Their first two attempts failed exactly because, I quote, "the ass floated up" and the front wheels dug into the bottom, burying themselves in the mud. The guys had to remove doors to make it drive across the bottom instead of floating.

Mou! Being a Niva ‘stretcher’ is suffering.

Aside: The Niva was sold here as Lada Sport. Got the nickname Stretcher-Sport after one of the first owners here tried to extract a stuck car. He learned very quickly that his brand new monocoque four-by was not a champion stump puller.

Music is nice, but it's even better with Mad Science. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvUU8joBb1Q

This vid is a fav of mine. But the machine itself has been retired as it could basically play just that one piece of music, could play the music perfectly all the way through. The video was filmed over 2 months and then edited the best takes together.

Martin is building a new machine, better designed and constructed, programmable, capable of a wider range of sounds.

I think that one was programmable, as much as a player piano. Those pegs put in the endless chain could do it. Easily programmable, now that is a different matter. And it did not look like it would travel well.

It would make one hell of an exhibit, though it'd have to be protected from eager fingers. If it was displayed working, I pity the curator taking care of it. The Exploratorium had working exhibits, about two-thirds of which worked at any given moment. The other third were being repaired and tweaked by the large staff in charge of exhibits. This fella would be a frequent visitor to the shop.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arpJLA_67mk — I think I first ran into this while searching for Enya music on Google and the Tyoube. It is a reminder to passengers (erm… sorry… customers) that the train driver is a human being.

I like that one! 8) The text in German was way beyond my skills, though.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFYv2uopwkY — “Flora’s Secret” by Enya.
Forgot to add this last night.

The text tells that train drivers bring people to work, to school, to their holiday destinations and back home, bring them the goods, and do so around the clock every day of the year, in a work environment that is not free of danger. It adds that railway staff are very much human and that they do not willfully delay your train ride. At the end is a greetz from the video’s maker to all other working drivers, incidentally shot where the Heide–Büsum Railway crosses under the Marsh Railway.

Edit: Obtw… Who wants to play Dak-spotter for an hour or so?

“Daks over Duxford” clips are trickling or even flooding in by now.

It’s Greg Lake, of course, since this is ELP playing Fanfare up in Montreal.
