Betrayal fics

What do you guys think of them?

You know those 'Usagi getting betrayed by the Inners, gets dumped by Mamoru, runs off to some place with the Outers, along with the somehow revived Generals?'

Anyhow, who wrote the first Sailor Moon betrayal fic anyways? Can anyone think of any plausible reasons for a betrayal that would actually make sense? And someone explain to me why it's always Sailor Pluto who has the dimension-hopping powers in crossover fics?

Comments? Opinions?

First betrayal plot story line happened in cannon. Sure it was a ploy to try to get access to Mamoru but it was the core plot of an episode. All the Senshi appearing to turn against Sailor Moon. And it wasn't the last time it came up as a plot device actually in the show.

As for Pluto, well, she IS mysterious, she has access to a time gate which in practice allows time travel, and her intentions aren't exactly clear cut.

A lot of material to work with.

The generals revision is due to the anime making some of them somewhat sympathetic and since this was before slash was popular, pairing up with the "best guy" meant either them or someone in a crossover.

And they saw themselves as Usagi. So... Yeah.

What are you talking about? Two of the generals are romantically involved with each other all the way to the start. Are you ok?

This is the thread for Betrayal stories...

In fanfiction, slash fics weren't really popular when SM was going on at first. Evidence is the many fics of turning Haruka as a guy or saying she's evil. Maybe it was just femslah that wasn't really popular, but the point is that fanfics making them being the good guys all along is making them memorable.

Not to mention one of them was turned into a girl in English...

I know there were SM 'betryal' fics from back when I was first reading fanfic, which I started before the series ended. Dunno when the first betrayal fic I read was, though it would have been before about spring 97...

Never seen a good one, nor one i even could finish.

Can anyone think of any plausible reasons for a betrayal that would actually make sense?

And that´s usually why they´re so bad. Noone seems to be able to come up with anything that doesn´t feel extremely contrived.

Like most things, they take the tiny bit of truth (canon faking it as a plan) and it grows from there.

Plus trolls...
