Irritating Experiences on the Oregon Trail

The Oregon Trail a few times today, and I was reminded that the worst things about life are the things you don't see coming.
Attempt #1: Decided to try playing as a farmer. Spent the $400 as wisely as I could. ...Three days into the trip, before I even reached the first river crossing, most of the stuff in the wagon was destroyed by a fire. Crud. Couldn't have that, so...
Attempt #2: Went reasonably well, at least until somewhere near Independence Rock. One of my party members got a broken arm; the game picked that same day to give me the "Bad Water" message, and said member died immediately. Double crud.

Could be worse. Imagine this scenario.
Started as a banker, got the maximum spare parts, 3 suits of clothing for every family member, Maximum food the wagon could carry, Then as many Yolk of Oxen as I could afford. Started in June. I set the pace to strenuous because I had so many Oxen. First broke a wheel. Managed to fix it. No other repairs worked. Before getting to the first check point we hit a Bad Trail and the food went bad. Lost almost all the food. Then there was a fire. Lost all the remaining food and all but 2 sets of clothes. BTW all cash spent at this point. What do you think happened before we got to a fort?

just what is this game? i have heard about it before, even seen panals at an anime con, but know nothing about it.

can be fixed. Don't know how you would've seen it at an anime con, though; the game was developed and published here in the U.S.

That can be remedied. I do have a copy of the Apple IIe version on more than one of my computers and could send it. While I have had many trips with multiple annoyances I have also had boring nearly trouble free trips as well.

It's not like the versions for the Apple and DOS are the only ones out there. There's plenty of updated releases and such to go around.

at anime central the past like 3 or four years therehas been a panel that startes how your henti panel got ruined so lets play orgen trail the game..so that how i have heard about the game at an anime con....go figure...thanks for the link.
