Today I finally---finally---got around to playing Hopeless Masquerade for the first time. It's... a bit of a thing. ()^_^ As such, I'm going to practice with it a while and get used to the controls before I tackle the main story.

Purchased Fraps and did a test run of it using a Hopeless Masquerade replay. It seems to be working alright; there's a bit of slowdown in a few places in-video, but that's to be expected. Once I have everything ironed out and I know exactly what I'm doing (which would be a first), I'll see how things work from there as far as gameplay vids go.

I needed Imperishable Night for a minor project I'm working on, so I tried to move it from my external hard drive back to my laptop. However, I found out that the hard drive's storage program doesn't like anything that's not mail, a document, or media file; it converted all my EXE files and such into DAT files, making it impossible to run the games and---if I'm not mistaken---killing my score files on top of that (although it left the replays alone). I later found out after checking the drive's support page that it does not support those specific files.

So aside from the fighting games (sans IaMP and ULiL, which I don't have), the PC-98 games and Fairy Wars, I'm going to have to replace all of my games. Joy.

So, the external hard drive converted them, the laptop can't read 'em, and you had no other copies of the games?

Yeah, that's the size of it. I used to have backups of games 9-12, but I think I deleted them after I first bought the drive.

Spotty Ren, the person who made the "Boot to the Head" vid that Aries linked to in Spamville last year, has several more videos that caught my attention.

The first is Ti Kwan Leep, released in April earlier this year. As with the aforementioned BttH, it's based on one of the Frantics' sketches.

The other one's being posted a day late, but whatever: "A Halloween for Marisa". Amusing little story behind it.

Earlier, I recorded my first playthrough of Lunatic Kingdom on Normal, using Reisen. I knew about the two modes available (I chose Legacy because reasons), but otherwise I went into the game almost completely blind.

...Eeesh. Eeesh, and eeesh again. I'd heard that the game makes SA look easy in comparison, but I was not expecting this. Of course, I had to run the game with a reduced resolution to minimize slowdown while recording, thus making it harder for me to dodge, but still. I'll edit the video some later (I had my microphone switched off at the time) and toss it on Youtube when I have some time to work with it.

I've checked around and confirmed that the Extra Stage is unlockable via Easy. I'll try the game again at a later date without recording.

Also, Reisen's bomb is very weird:

Her bomb is unique that, rather than turning invisible and damaging enemies, she'll instead have three red wings around that that, basically, gives her three extra lives. If all lives aren't used by the end of the stage, then the bomb will end.
