You do not have a web browser that groks web fonts?

It would be a problem if were reading it off-line and did not have correct fonts installed...

And that font falls into the type I would find annoying to read...

Because of keeping things over the years and making sure all my fonts stick around. I have more than 5,000 fonts on this system. Unfortunately that's still not enough to have suitable ones for all possibilities.

Yes... but those fonts are likely for a variety of mostly Windows and even possibly DOS formats. What if you are attempting to read something requiring those on a device that cannot accept them. Or needs to go on-line to accept them and you are reading offline...

Again... that is my whole point. Things should be written to be as univeral and trouble free and portable as possible... that means most likely text, either ASCII or Unicode, depending upon how universal you want it. Or alternatively, write in such a way so as any extra formatting is just that... optional and can be read without it and not generate errors.

Fonts? Fonts are for paper. Whatever font the readers have on their browsers is probably what they're most comfortable with. Bold and italic are too useful to do without. The biggest problem I have is with things like extended characters, 'smart quotes', and em-dashes that end up on my browser as a garble of characters. And not characters, I might add, that resemble the ones intended.

When writing for the Web, it's best to turn off every form of fancy your word processor can deliver. Either that, or put things up as an image or a PDF.

The CSS/HTML snippets above are ones I use within my private library, so I'm home free, of course. It's N/A to those of you that strip away all mark-up before archiving. I, on the other hand, like to play with typography; do things like set clips from the Daily Prophet to resemble a front page. I like to try different typefaces and background for different fandoms: Optima and Palatino for Harry Potter, PT Sans/Serif for Naruto... this sorta thing. Helps keeping track of nice combos.

I don't care for reading about things being "perfect" Like perfect breasts or perfect hair or whatever.

It's not perfect and I'm sick of reading all these perfect things.

Yeah, writers seem to forget that Ranma has cried before. I think more in the anime.

But still, it has happened more than twice in the manga.

That was horrible. The Japanese view kisses especially first kisses as being extremely important. See Tvtropes Sacred First Kiss

Yeah, I think people who want to write a dramatic story use that device a bit much. It's worth noting that Ranma basically cries for three reasons:

1. The Mikado kiss.
2. His mother and/or Akane are in life threatening danger
3. He lost and/or beaten and he's having a somewhat more dignified temper tantrum.

Fic writers would probably be better served by making note of that distinction if crying is meant to be some kind of dramatic device. Of course, it would be even better if they refrained from use of said plot device or, at the very least, justify its use.

Let's remember something.

Fanfic writers do this on their own free time. No one pays us, no one gives us deadlines or due dates. We just write these fics because.... we want to write these fics!

Its something I have to remind myself. Most of these writers do it on a spur of the moment, have no prior writing experience, and have thin skin.

While I'd like for others to try to improve their writing and understanding, some just don't care.

This would explain my biggest thing I don't care for in fanfiction.

And that is http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheyJustDidntCare just not caring.

Happosai as a good guy. Especially with Genma (and sometimes Soun) as bad guys.
