With Nabiki, it's odd, she uses an ancient form of calculating, but she has the newest cameras whenever we see her. So, computers? She could use computers for selling Ranma pics or stock market, or even getting money from other things easy.

Then again, she could be too lazy to do so.

But if Ranma ended up with her to start, it could affect both of their abilities.

If personal computers are available in the setting... Even if Nabiki put more focus on photography than what a personal computer would have to offer by itself, if she were serious about photography she'd want a personal computer for it. With that, if Ranma ever thought that he could take advantage of the fact that she stored pictures of him on it, he'd want to figure out how to operate it to succeed, unless computer lab were available and mandatory.

The combination of Nabiki, computers, and photography is heavily time-dependent. If the story is set in the 1990s, digital cameras aren't really that good or available. Get the story into the twenty-first century, and it's a completely different situation. Digital photos don't need a developer (cutting down on the evidence trail) and it's dead simple to back them up and put the copies in a safe deposit box.

If such were the case, and I were a practitioner of Anything Goes, the first thing I'd learn is how to turn the webcam on, and get the pictures sent out to another location. In that case, Nabiki's blackmail (remember, we're talking fanon Nabiki here) would mutate into a case of Mutual Assured Destruction.

Nabiki might then use a bajillion cameras to keep track of and blackmail people, which Ranma could try to use to get back at Nabiki.

I wonder what fanon Nabiki would say about today´s availability of fiberoptic cameras. The kind you can pretty much put anywhere... Mix with an encrypted wireless and "Spying for dummies" it is.

voted moderate but it depends. Had the series taken place in the modern day where computers are an integral part of our world then he should by all means be familiar with basic computer usage. However with his main focus and interest on martial arts (not to mention being on the road for 10 years) i cant see where he would have had time to learn anything but the basics.

I liked what trimatter did in "out of time" where ranma had been in a coma for 20? years and missed most of the computer revolution so to speak. In such case he would probably be totally clueless as how to even operate one.

As for ranma being some pro computer hacker, i have a very hard time picturing it in any scenario.

The consensus seems to be moderate by a landslide!
