Bringing Minds together.

Just for the purposes of brain storming.

What do you think would result from bringing
Hermoine Granger,
Mizuno Ami,
Skuld Odinsdatter,
Hakubi Washu,
Kaolla Su, and
Radical Edward from Cowboy Bebop together?

How would any 3 or more of them react to each other in your opinion? Both if they heard of the others or not.

Just how serious a threat would be needed to build a story where getting even half of these brains involved in the situation would be required? And how much more powerful a threat would be needed for all of them?

Is there a way to make a universe that can handle these ladies coming together?

I don't know who Granger is.

Hermione seems a bit on the short end in that list. She's smart, but possible-in-real-life smart, not cartoonish smart as the rest.

comic book universe. They'd hang around with Reed Richards and Dr. Doom.

And then all of them will fail to cure cancer.

Hermione would burn out.
Radical Edward would wander off and find Luna Lovegood.
Skuld and Washuu would get into a bragging/inventing contest.
Ami would take notes on it all.
Kaolla Su would drop a turtle on the whole mess.

I always think of Hermoine Granger more for what she would decide she MUST start researching and learning about. I agree with all of the others she'd burn out, Just being around Skuld or Washu she'd likely consider starting a religion to their knowledge and creations. Depending on how much she learned of them and their abilities that is.

Its difficult to even bring Radical Edward to the right time frame to meet any of the others. But for some odd reason whenever I am reading a story with 2 of the others in a situation I start thinking of Ed-chan.

Basic situation: Daytime in a park that is currently leased out for a Nekomi (Uncertain on the spelling right now) Tech Student Festival/Picnic day.

Its in Jubaan because they have larger park areas ((Check it out on a map.)) and the University decided to see if allotting more space could help avoid problems. Hermoine is in the area after researching Kappa, and Kitsune at Hogwarts and looking for some magical book stores that might have original sources, local villagers stories from actual observers, that sort of thing.

Tenchi is in the area because he was asked to return some scrolls to a shrine just south of the park. Washu tags along to get out of the house and have some time with Tenchi outside her lab where he's always so nervous.

Its harder to come up with reasons why Kaolla or Ed-chan would be there. Seeing as Hinatta Sou is Just outside of Tokyo to the south along Tokyo bay, And Ed-chan is nearly a century in the future.

Is this level of "coincidence" even reasonable to try to get away with?

Certainly. As long as you do something as you described, because that pulls coincendes together pretty nicely.

Its harder to come up with reasons why Kaolla or Ed-chan would be there.

Kaolla shouldn´t be too hard? Someone that builds the stuff she does, just for fun, someone could invite her, or she could have befriended someone associated earlier.
If the festival stuff included perhaps a little contest of suitable sorts(anything technical), she might be interested.

Mmm, sometimes cliches are cliche simply because they do work...

How about this then.

Radical Edward stumbles across some Mihoshi caused wreckage that just happens to have the remains of a couple of Washu's old projects, incidentally the cause of the wrecking of the transport when Mihoshi got to them. Instead of salvaging any of it Washu decided to just rebuild from scratch without Mihoshi tainted parts. Ed-chan can't just leave devices that might be suffering alone and that ends up getting her and all the crew a ticket to the park where everyone else - Kaolla were already mentioned as gathering.

Take the concept from the other end and you can twist Cliché into something not seen as often.

Detecting the "Alien" Vessel and thinking she could have fun with it Kaolla decides to investigate with a few of her Mecha Tama along just in case the "Aliens" are hostile.

The two devices, A dimensional door with temporal buffer to allow simultaneous transfer at faster than light and a tracker programmed to keep track of everyone Washu fed it data on. She was going to put in the rest of the people on the ship in case she needed to use the door to pull them out of trouble in the near future, Before Mihoshi got to it. Just because it has a plug doesn't mean you can just plug it in to the ships power core without knowing what it is yet.
