So apparently, in response to the 20th anniversary of Sailor Moon, a new Sailor Moon Anime has been announced for 2013.

Meh. I'm waiting for a new Ranma anime.

Well, I hope that there'll be at least some gratuitous fan service. That seems to be quite poular with anime nowadays.

ಠ_ಠ For the love of god no. ಠ_ಠ

Honestly, I find myself hoping the anime follows closely to the manga this time, but maybe with a few tweaks here and there.

*Headdesks* I just realized. Considering the current anime trends, there might indeed be a bunch of fanservice and/or moe. I am now saddened by that.

Same here. No monster-of-the-week bologna, since that just dilutes the plot and makes it harder for things to make sense. It better be twelve or thirteen episodes of linear, sensible storytelling. Perhaps with the addition of the more grotesque-looking deaths that's shown in the manga (like their flesh is being blown away, or their face melting).

I'm betting on more moe than you can shake a stick at.

I think it would be funny if the new anime is 100% faithful to the manga, including the god-awful artwork. Everyone but the most hardcore manga fans would cringe.

I hope not. Sailor Moon already inspired a generation; the worst thing it can do is to sell out.

Or, to be more precise, to hand it over to "perverted Japanese men who aren't getting laid enough." XD

I'm probably one of the few that think the artwork wasn't all that bad. It was mostly the limbs that looked like something out of a horror film.

If you'll excuse me I need to start campaigning for more Sailor Jupiter focus episodes. <goes off to start making placards>

*Raises a hand* I thought the art was just fine in general.

Considering that this was the series that got me started on anime to start with, I was enthused at first. Reading the comments that have been posted up until now... I'm not so sure anymore. :?

I guess I'll just go with my standard M.O. and wait and see how things go before I decide on an opinion.

So, yeah, there's a comparison in a way. Sort of.

A new series? I guess I shouldn't be surprised. As for GT, I'd always thought that series was quite out there (no pun intended). Well, as long as they don't open the next series with a scene where Goku wakes in the shower and realizes the last few story arcs were a dream...
(yeah, really old joke, but still...)

I'm going to give the new SM series the benefit of the doubt, for now, even though I know very little about it. It'll probably spur another resurgence in Sailor Moon fanfiction, too.

As for Ranma... well, they did bother to return to and finish Inu-Yasha, for the most part, so who knows? :D
