Vampire by Gaslight...Time travel paradoxes

Postby talonhunter » Tue Jun 14, 2011 5:17 pm

So who here has played the White wolf games based on Vampire? Currently looking for some help to set up a LARP or tabletop type RP online and was looking to get the old Vampire by Gaslight story line going but setting it up more with a time travel /Steampunk plot. Looking for lots of input here as I want to be able to go live with it before the beginning of October so that will leave plenty of time for character creation and storyline production. Also any help relocating the original books and stories would be helpful as my copies got destroyed in a flash flood a couple years ago. And thanks in advance

(Aaaannnnnddd...double post)
So far this is the opening premiss for the game, let's see if it is playable sometime as well...:)

Plot Bunnies...A Gaslight/Steampunk/H.G. Wells LARP

Story...You have built/bought/stolen a time travel device based on The designs of HG Wells. The unit is fully operational and of course is steam powered. Just as you are ready to put it into operation and flee to the past where your fore knowledge will allow you to live in luxury, the doors and windows to your lair burst in. It seem your enterprise has gained the attention of several interested parties as well...(Enter the players. Billionaire industrialists, corporate and private detectives...(Think Pinkerton or Wells Cargo type)...cops, ramrod cowboy types, post industrial war veterans, ect...) you make your daring move to escape in he time device when something goes wrong. You and those in the room with you feel the twist of vertigo as the device brilliantly flashes and... Your lair is empty.

Those with you find themselves scattered in small groups (Say 1 to 4 different people per group) lost in the past during the Victorian era. Any communications devices may have a limited ability to reach others, but the range and quality will be close to useless if the players have no knowledge of those that traveled back with them. The Time travel device...what is left anyway... Is hopelessly useless until parts can be repaired or recreated. Where have you and the others ended up? Was that a scream in the night? And why does it feel like you are being watched...like a mouse near a lounging cat...looks like you found your way into a new world of darkness and you might be on the menu...

Resource list thus far...
Book: Vampire by Gaslight/ white wolf games
Book: The Time Machine/ HG Wells
Cultural artifact: The physical construction of HG Wells time travel device built in a friends shop
Genre: Steampunk Anthologies and cultures compendium...
