Wow, lots to comment on this time. Where to start...

al103 and Frog -

With ranma's base body and skill that treat is enormous.

For the most part, Ranma and company's superhuman strength comes from effective use of ki, which Ranma does not have now. He needs to learn magic, which he has never studied. In order to become proficient in magic, he'll need to spend a large amount of time learning.

How you will stop Ranma from feeding on humans and magicworlders/demonhunters/etc from killing him on first sight?

Hmm, I did not say Ranma will stop from feeding on humans  . Also, Ranma and company are going to be saved by Happosai and Mahora, the latter of which will put them under protective custody.

This is Eva's case, who was turned by magic.

Ranma was turned through magic, but not using the exact ritual which turned Evangeline.

However, he would still be a victim to the hunger and possess all the regular weaknesses.

Ranma is not immune to the regular weaknesses yet, but he has a higher resistance than a freshly transformed vampire (through a sire or the old magical way). This is again related to how he was not transformed through the "usual" ritual.

And i don't see why powerup anyway? Given 5 years... They are already much more than normal. Not on Ku level martial arts, but on Ki-magic level martial arts (dimension ki-pockets and so on).

and

As was pointed out by al103, 3 months post manga and 5 years pre-Negima gives the Ranma crew a pretty massive headstart on the power-level chart... especially if they've all undergone magical experimentation and enhancement.

Hmm, I have been considering reducing the time period between the beginning arcs of the story and when the canon Negima material enters. It probably would be more feasible to stick with a one year difference. Canon Negima and Ranma both seemed to have fit a lot of adventure material in that space of time. As for the "powerups" in general, not all experiments go according to plan.

Finally, why the Ranma crew? They're all pretty pig-headed and no slouches when it comes to self-defense.

Which is actually one of the reasons why they were kidnapped. Also, non-fighters were taken as an experimental control group.

Isn't in Negima difference between two energies almost nonexistent? More so, by Negi explanation the only source of energy thet different. Ki come fron witin, when magic from witout. So I really don't think that Ranma need to spend a large amount of time to learn magic.

IMHO true ancestor can suppres hunger from the start with little experience (though in need of blood before full power).

No evidence of this, in the context of Negima.

It was clearly stated that while Eva is coldblood killer the only not selfdefense kill was right after transformation. Even if selfdefense can be very unclear in her case.

She killed the man who turned her, killed him with hate in her heart, that much we agree on, however: how did she know what she had become, right upon waking up? What spurred her into hate, right from the beginning?/quote

But it's still the only once when she kill that was also murder if what they talked with Negi is truth.

Frog wrote:Not necessarily. Really, Akamatsu hasn't given any information about being Shinso vs normal vampires other than saying "Evangeline is Shinso".

Emmm... Actually he did. "Powerful dark mages turned themselves" is from someones words in manga. And we can use Eva for limitation of abilities at start.

They give some interferrence with each other, but other than that they both can be used to powerup any skill - magical or martial. Source of magic don't matter also - be it natural magic gathering of mages, pactio powerup, vampire blooddrinking or elecricity <-> magic transformation used in Mahora (though last will be useless for martial artist). And that is a point here - Ranma will need almoust no training to change to the new source of power... And by the way i'm not sure that Ranma will lose ki... problem with control for some time? Yes. Lose? Don't think so.

Please choose one. He feed on humans or he saved by Mahora. Mages in Mahora are nice but if he wouldn't behave then Ranma will recieve stake at heart in the blink of eye.

I believe that is the difference between ki and magic in Negima. I'll have to rethink that part of the story.

Negi volunteered to have his blood secretly sucked by Evangeline in canon Negima. There will be a similar situation for Ranma (i.e., someone will volunteer for him as well). Initially, Ranma will be given blood packs from Mahora, but he'll find out that he needs to occasionally suck blood for a different reason as well.

There is. Just it's difference is like wavelength and they have interference with each other and can't be used in same time (exept kanka which powerup on that interference) - but they can be used in exchange of each other. Eastern mages use KI for they spelcasting, on other side ki-using martial artist use ki-based magic skills (Kaede, Setsuna, Kotaro..), though Ki is much more limited in terms of powerlevel because magic can be channeled from outside (and estern type MU use mana for powerful spells). Also i think eastern mages simplest spells have little to no casting time because they don't need to channel mana and ki is always with them - but proficient west mage also can channel amount of magic for simple spells almoust instatly. But i repeat when there is supply of mana Ki user can use it instead of Ki, just need a little training - mostly not to use it actually, but to suppress ki when doing so (Setsuna training with Eva under pactio powerup magic channeling).

But can he suppres hunting instincts? Or actually is he undead vampire or shinso? If first i don't think he can suppres them. Better make him shinso - that they are as "weak" at start as undead ones anyway. (the amount of powerup enormous anyway - see Makie in "servant" mode).

Arguable. In manga they newer say anything about wavelength and stuff. Direct quote from here.
"Magic power" and "Ki" both refer to energies that reside an infinite variety of living organisms, but "Magic power"is the spiritual power to collect the natural energies that is full in the atmosphere, and bring it under the control of one's own body.

IMO pretty obvious that their no difference beetwen "Ki energy" and "Magic energy". Both terms reffer to the same energy but comes from two different sources. I.E. "ki" come from witin someone body and "magic" from outside world (atmsphere). Sooo... Ranma could easy use "magic" as substitude for "ki", and empower himself back on his old level (or on even greater degree, considering that now he a vampire).

Off course Ranma still need to learn how to take energy from world around him...

Same TYPE of energy, not the same. Ki interferes with mana, mana interferes with ki. You can use only one at time. Reread when Setsuna training with Eva before Wales arc. And kanka description - the whole point of it is mana-ki interference used as tool.

I decided to reduce the time before the start of canon Negima to one year. This will be plenty of time for the Ranma crew to have their own adventures before canon Negima. Also, here is some more story :) .

-ranmafan1

...............

Pain shot through Ranma’s body as a he woke up. Every part of him was throbbing, but he forced himself through the exhaustion. The teenager remembered the last parts of the fight, if one could call it that he reflected bitterly, and Ranma needed to know the situation. After his eyes slowly opened, the pigtailed martial artist noted a stone ceiling above him.

Painfully pushing himself up onto his elbows, Ranma took note of the room. He did not have to look far to see something unusual. An old man with a large white beard and wearing plain clothes was sitting in the corner of the room. He had his arms tucked over his knees and seemed to staring at nothing in particular. Ranma began to say, “Um, excuse m..” when the man interrupted him.

“There was once a kingdom of ages past, whose future and prosperity seemed meant to last,” quoted Ranma’s cellmate, who still seemed to be in a constant daze.

“Okay…” Ranma mumbled to himself. Apparently the guy was not quite right in the head. Looking at his surroundings, Ranma noted that there were no windows, even in the door at the far side of the room, as well as no other apparent sources of light. The young fighter found it really strange, and more than a bit disturbing, how in such circumstances he was able to see perfectly fine.

The man continued, “Within that kingdom there was a garden of flowers, grown from ancient spells and dangerous powers.”

The crazy guy was getting annoying to Ranma with his ramblings. Setting aside for the moment the odd sight issue, the pigtailed teenager pushed himself up fully. After Ranma turned towards the man, he asked, “Look, do you know where we…” Suddenly, Ranma stopped talking as a shot of pain lanced through his mind. Clutching his head, the boy wanted to scream in agony, but no sound came out.

Regardless of Ranma’s plight, the stranger spoke again, “But evil grew and destroyed the roots, still the flowers bloomed and gave ripe fruits,”

The throbbing was continuing at a maddening pace; the beating of a heart was pounding throughout Ranma’s ears. But through the pain, he began focusing on the other man for some reason.

“Without any guidance or led by hand, the fruits were spread throughout the land.”

The man’s voice was being drowned out as the thumping noise became louder and louder. Then through the thickening fog that was forming around his senses, Ranma came to a realization. He was not hearing his own heartbeat.

“The kingdom was forgotten and lost in history, their secret arts were now a mystery.”

It was that belonging to the other man…

“Still hidden beyond sealed doors is kept a treasure, whose value and danger is beyond all measure.”

A sudden state of calmness washed over Ranma; all of his focus was now on the old man. With no signs of agitation or pain, Ranma stood up from the bed.

“A few know the truth and seek the portals, be it gods, demons, or curious mortals.”

The sclerae of Ranma’s eyes turned from white to black, while the irises became golden and the pupils slitted like a cat. A grin spread across his face, which showed elongated fangs.

“And now the poet whose story was spoken, for his companion whose spirit was broken,”

Ranma crouched low to the ground, ready to pounce at a given moment.

“Has reached a conclusion, but a new chapter will await; this poet knows not what since he has accepted his fate…”

And then Ranma lunged at the old man…

When Ranma regained control of his senses, he immediately recalled everything that happened in the last few minutes. He wanted to curse in a fit of rage or scream in denial, but he could not. The boy knew why it happened; Ranma realized what he had become. It was as if he was driven by some…instinct that he could not ignore, but that did not justify anything to Ranma. This was about his loss of control, and the resulting sin to bear. And so all the teenager did now was stare at the scene before him. At the old man whose empty eyes looked back at his, who died with a smile on his face, and who had two puncture marks on his neck.

And here is some more story.

-ranmafan1

...............

Silence permeated the room for a long time with Ranma still staring at the corpse across from him. Sometimes he would also pick at the bracelet which was wrapped around his wrist. Only when it was far after Ranma lost control that he even noticed its presence. It seemed to be a chain with beads long its length and had a cross dangling at the end. No matter hard he tried the fighter could not remove or break it. The same could be said of the door, walls, floor and ceiling. ‘Great, more magic,’ thought Ranma bitterly.

The coppery taste was somehow still lingering in his mouth and disgusted him greatly. What made the sense of revulsion even greater was the pleasure he remembered when drinking the blood. How his fangs pierced the skin… How the blood came gushing out into his mouth… How reenergized he felt from drinking it… All of these memories piled on the teenager’s conscience.

And then other thoughts were making its way through his mind. How did he become a vampire? Was he bitten by one while he was unconscious? From what Ranma knew in stories on television and in books, that was how vampires were made. Would he always lose control like that when the hunger came again?

In addition to his own concerns, Ranma was also worrying about the fate of those he knew. How many people were taken? With a sinking feeling in his stomach, Ranma wondered if Akane was somewhere here as well. His old man, Soun, Nabiki, or Kasumi? The others who were scattered around Nerima? For all Ranma knew, the whole district could have been taken. Were they turned in vampires like he was?

The pigtailed boy doubted that whoever was responsible for all of this would go through the whole trouble just for him. Ranma had quite a large ego, but not that much. From what he also remembered of the conversation before being put to sleep, it seemed that Azami and that Garrick person were just some subordinates.

This was not like the usual fights in Nerima, if it could be called that. Generally, it involved a random battle which involved either him and/or one of the other fighters in the area. Occasionally, such opponents used sneaky tactics like how Kiima disguised herself as Akane. However, Azami was sent weeks in advance to help prepare everything- to build trust in the neighborhood and slowly set the trap in motion. In addition to their plan, they apparently had powerful help, if the abilities of Azami and what little he glimpsed of Garrick were any indication. They never stood a chance.

The only door to the room was clicked unlock, which immediately brought Ranma out of his self-recrimination and depression. Many plans ran through his mind at that moment on how to beat up whoever came through, but all of them were rejected. Not only did Ranma not know where he was, the location of the others was a mystery as well, and they could be used as hostages.

So gritting his teeth in frustration, Ranma waited as the door opened. However, the pigtailed martial artist was stunned at seeing who was waiting on the other side. It was a face Ranma knew well. The beautiful woman standing before him had long dark purple hair which cascaded down her back. She was wearing a red Chinese silk dress that had a long slit on both sides and which hugged her prominent curves. Upon seeing him, the woman smirked a little, no doubt because of his reaction. The teenager could not help it, though, since it was a face Ranma saw long ago during the Nanban mirror incident.

“C-Cologne!?!” stammered a shocked Ranma.

Snippet time :D .

...............

A few moments later Ranma snapped out of his stupor. Almost growling in anger, the vampire gritted out, "Old Ghoul, were you responsible for all of this?"

Cologne stopped smiling and projected a serious atmosphere. Looking straight at Ranma in the eyes, the young woman nodded while saying, "In a sense, yes...Ranma."

Even in his rage, the teenager still noted the emphasis Cologne put on 'Ranma' instead of her usual 'Son-in-Law' way of addressing him. Meeting her gaze with a hard one of his one, Ranma simply asked, "Why?"

The purple-haired woman walked into the cell, after which the door closed behind her. Cologne now stood away from her former 'Son-in-Law' by a couple of meters and she answered, "To fulfill a dream."

Ranma narrowed his eyes at the response, but did not say anything yet. However, the former old woman could see his confusion and explained, "Ranma, do you think dreams can always be fulfilled idealistically. The cold, hard truth is that in order to succeed, others must fail.”

The boy snorted and shot back, “And you think that makes all of this alright.” Cologne's reasoning seemed to have made Ranma even angrier.

The Matriarch shrugged her shoulders and replied, “Not really, but I am not looking for excuses.”

“How did you become young?” Ranma asked to change the topic, “Was it magic mushrooms? Was this a reward for all your hard work in selling us out?” The youth was seriously starting to think about getting up and punching Cologne here and then. Ranma still did not believe he could escape; however, the longer this conversation went on, the more he simply wanted to hit her to relieve his frustrations.

Cologne raised an eyebrow at the question, but answered anyway, “We would not use such crude means for age management. Others have utilized the essence of those mushrooms to control their ages. However, there are some adverse effects in taking them over a long period of time.” The woman flipped her purple hair casually and added, “No, we have other more efficient methods at our disposal. And this was no reward. It was simply the appropriate time to bring that charade to a close. I could have been given my youth earlier if I had wanted, but I felt I needed more observation time.”

Ranma's mind was racing from the information and was starting to come to a terrible conclusion. “H-how long ago was this all planned?” he slowly asked.

The Amazon looked directly at him again and Ranma knew he would not like the answer. “Since you defeated Herb.” Cologne slowly advanced upon him until she was within reaching distance. “You see, Ranma, we need people with extraordinary constitutions and abilities. There are many others around the world, and we have occasionally collected some of those individuals. However, such a large and concentrated collection of talented people is hard to come by. Other organizations that meet our requirements have allies which we do not want to unnecessarily provoke as well.”

“So, we're the perfect guinea pigs,” bitterly stated Ranma.

Again Cologne shrugged her shoulders and continued, “To summarize everything, yes. We originally were going to collect other groups, but one of our members persuaded us with information she...acquired that it would be prudent to delay our acquisitions. Suffice it say, it was worth the wait for everyone to gather in Nerima.”

Ranma narrowed his eyes at Cologne's words and pieced their original targets, “Joketsuzoku, the Musk, and the Phoenix tribes.”

The former old woman smirked at his answer, similar to the way she used to in her ancient form. “Very good, Ranma. By waiting, we were to able to collect some interesting fighters that would have been hard otherwise to locate. And we still obtained the Jusendo tribes in the end.”

His eyes widened at the final part of her statement. “You got them all too?”

She sighed in frustration and responded, “Herb and his two lackeys were able to escape, as well as Kiima, who took Saffron with her. Unfortunate as well, since they are the most useful of the specimens for those tribes. The two who were in charge of that operation apparently failed with their plans.” She then turned around and started heading towards the door. “Oh, well. What's done is done.”

When she was about to knock on the door, Ranma cried out, “Wait!” since he did not want Cologne to leave yet. The teenager still had questions to be answered, hopefully on the whereabouts of the others. Trying to get her attention, he asked, “Why did you tell me all of this?”

Looking over her shoulder, Cologne answered, “And why not? You are going to be here a long time, Ranma, and would have eventually pieced most of it together. I might as well bring these things out into the open now so there will be less hassles later.”

After he took a deep breath, Ranma bluntly asked, “Who else is here?”

Cologne turned back around and looked almost...pityingly at the boy, who was now starting to feel panic welling up within him. “Don't concern yourself with the others and just worry about yourself,” she simply stated.

Ranma's eyes widened again, this time in horror. “What have you done?” whispered the youth.

Shampoo's great-grandmother once more stared straight at her former student and said, “It would be wise for you not to see certain people again...Not all of the experiments were considered a success like yours.”

With an inarticulate roar, Ranma leapt at Cologne. Any rational thinking could not be seen in his eyes, which were now the same coloration as when he lost control and killed the old man. However, the next thing Ranma knew, he was on the floor and severely hurt all over his body. He did not see the attack coming since it was even faster than Garrick's assault.

Lying on the floor, the vampire again struggled to remain awake, when Cologne spoke, “Hmmm...I apologize, Ranma. That attack should have went more elegantly and less painful for you. It seems I will need more time to effectively utilize this body. You truly are a scary person, Ranma, with how quickly you adapted in using your female form...perhaps even more frightening now.”

And then Ranma lost consciousness once more...

...............

Ranma got pwned again, but there should not be much more of that aspect again for a while (until he starts his new training after being rescued ).

Sorry for the delay. The last couple of weeks were pretty hectic. And here is the snippet :D .

-ranmafan1

...............

‘This is becoming old,’ groggily thought Ranma as he regained consciousness. It seemed all that was happening lately was him getting his ass kicked. He really should not be surprised anymore, particularly with Cologne. The former Matriarch not only had more years of experience than him in fighting, but now had a youthful body with which to utilize that knowledge (although Cologne did indicate that she was not accustomed to her age yet, but that hurt his pride even more).

Looking around the room, Ranma noted that he was still in the same cell as before; however, there was no sign of the old man that he killed. The door was unlocked once more, but he had no strength to get up from the bed. ‘I guess they were waiting for me to wake up,’ concluded Ranma. After the vampire turned his head towards the sound, he noted three figures entering the room.

The individual on the left had spiked dark blue hair, was wearing jeans, and had on an open vest which exposed his bare chest. Hanging on each side of his hips was some sort of gun. The man was now leaning against the wall and seemed to be smirking condescendingly at Ranma. Needless to say, the pigtailed fighter already did not like the guy.

The grey-haired person on the right was wearing a lab coat on a white shirt and black tie. He had a droopy expression on his face, a somewhat comically large nose, and had his hands hidden within the coat’s pockets. The woman between the two stood out in front of them. She was quite beautiful with aquamarine hair and had a substantial bust. While she also wore a lab coat like the other man, she was dressed in a blue blouse and black mini-skirt combo. Her light-blue eyes were complimented with wireframe glasses and a mole at the corner of the left eye. However, it was the look in those eyes that told Ranma she was the one in charge of those present. The woman seemed to be dissecting Ranma as a specimen with that cold and calculating state. Suffice it to say, Ranma already did not like her either.

In fact, every one of them was already on his shit list. First, he and some of the others were kidnapped and now they were apparently all being subjected to some twisted experiments. And here Ranma was stuck doing nothing; he knew Cologne was no fool and her absence meant she truly believed they could not escape. But Ranma beat impossible odds before, and all he needed was an opening. However, that was the obvious difficult part since finding the most opportune time meant ensuring the others’ survival as well. So he again waited for them to speak while he also pondered Cologne’s previous words- that not all of the experiments were “successful.” The very thought chilled Ranma’s bones. The wording made it sound like they were still alive, but he also heard the expression that “there are worse things than death.”

The woman spoke and brought Ranma out of his thoughts. “Subject 1897. Designation: Ranma Saotome. Age: 17. Experimental Protocol: Vampirification, Subset Alpha-Beta-Gamma, 63.5-25.3-11.2. Experimental Status: Preparations for Procedure 1 are complete.” The mechanical voice matched well with her cold expression as well as her light colored hair and eyes.

Ranma was tempted to ask the people in front of him the whereabouts of the others, but he felt they would not be forthright about that information. So for the moment he asked them one in which they would. A question that was plaguing his conscience more by the minute. “Who was that guy that was here?”

The woman answered automatically, “Subject 0007. Designation: Classified. Age: Classified. Experimental Protocol: Retrocognition, Precognition. Experimental Status: Minimal success; however, the ability potential was below that of current resources. Additionally, mental instability which resulted from the psychic enhancement further decreased the effectiveness of the subject. Hence, the decision was made for termination.”

“But the old coot was still a little useful…as dinner. Right, Sis?” commented the spiked-haired boy, whose grin was more prominent now. Ranma really wanted to hit that guy.

The seemingly emotionless woman ignored her escort, opting instead to speak with Ranma. “Specimen 1897, Designation: Ranma Saotome will be prepared for Procedure 1.” She then reached into her lab coat pocket and pulled out an intricately carved golden cross.

‘A cross for a vampire. How original,’ sarcastically thought Ranma. However, the design of the cross was similar to the one on the bracelet wrapped around his wrist. It looked to the teenager that they were going to somehow use it on him. In order to try and buy time, Ranma asked, “So, the former old ghoul decided not to show up again, huh? And who the heck are you guys?”

The blue-haired man snorted. “And why would we want to tell…”

“My name is Dr. Yukiko Aoki, supervisor of Specimen Sets: Nerima, Joketsuzoku, Musk, and Phoenix,” interrupted the scientist, which made the man next to her stop smirking. “On my right is Yukio Aoki,” who pointedly turned away at the mention of his name, “and on my left is Dr. Fumio Ishii” who did not make any acknowledgement. While she raised the cross, Yukiko continued, “Subject 1897 will be immobilized during the course of the current and subsequent experiments.”

Panicking, Ranma tried to think of something to say to continue the conversation. “Wait! What about…!?!” he exclaimed.

However, the blue-haired doctor whispered, “Immobilis,” and there was a flash from the bracelet on Ranma’s wrist. Suddenly the vampire could not move his body. His senses still were working, including touch; however, he could not will any part of him to budge except for his eyes. While he continued to struggle against whatever they did to him, it occurred to Ranma that the group could have done this outside the door. He also realized the reason why they did not do so as well- to gloat in person how they were the ones in control.

Yukiko commanded, “Yukio, take Specimen 1897 to Laboratory 1818.” Then she turned around and exited the room, along with Fumio, who followed behind her.

Releasing a sigh, Yukio went over to Ranma, saying, “Let’s get going, you shithead,” and grabbed him by the arm. He then pulled the pigtailed boy of the bed and dragged him on the floor out of the cell and through the hallway.

‘These assholes,’ fumed Ranma, ‘are gonna pay for all of this.’ Even if he could not move, Ranma still felt the pain of being manhandled like he was. While he was taken through the hallway, Ranma made sure to take note of his surroundings. The long, stone corridor was filled with doors looking like the one of his room. The hallway was lighted with glass balls that floated over where normal torches would have been. His room was also close to their apparent destination since it took only a couple of minutes to get there.

When he entered the laboratory, he noted a half dozen or so people wearing lab coats, three men and three women. Included among them were Yukiko and Fumio, the former of which was putting on gloves. The laboratory was filled with technology that Ranma never saw. From where a few of the technicians were typing, Ranma assumed they were computers of some sort. However, the computers he knew of did not float in midair or seem to be made of light. In the middle of the laboratory there was a metal table and pointing towards it was a machine that was hanging from the ceiling. At the end of the machine was a small crystal.

“Place Subject 1897 onto the examination table, Yukio,” stated Yukiko.

The blue-haired man did as told, looked at Ranma in the eye, and said with a smirk, “Have fun, freak show!” Yukio then went into the corner and crossed his arms, waiting for the next proceedings.

‘I guess they don’t need to lock me down,’ ruefully thought Ranma. He had not given up yet on trying to move his body; however, it looked more hopeless by the second. The bracelet seemed to be responsible for his current immobility and he would need to remove it before trying to free everyone. Ranma hoped they would not always keep him unable to move or he would be in even more trouble.

“Dr. Aoki, the crystal matrix is ready,” stated a female worker at one of the consoles.

Turning towards Ranma, Yukiko nodded and said, “Excellent. Start with the overall spectrum wavelengths for the average light exposure in Earth realm. Set the light filtration at 50%.”

Ranma’s eyes widened in panic at the mention of ‘light.’ From the stories he heard, the word ‘light’ and ‘vampire’ did not mix.

The other woman complied. “Matrix is set for the overall spectrum wavelengths for the average light exposure in Earth realm.” After typing a bit more, she added, “Light filtration is at 50%.”

Then the blue-haired scientist simply declared, “Begin.”

The crystal end of the machine pointed towards him started to glow white. ‘Oh, shi-!’ thought Ranma before the light hit him.

Not much to say except for 'great chapter'. I guess Yukio is already a walking corpse. Once Ranma gets free he'll probably be his first victim. I don'z think you'vementioned it yet, but do you have any special plans for Ranma's female form?
And that's the bottom line 'cause Dumbledork said so.

Thanks 8) .

You would think so, but I do have a role for Yukio later in the fic.

Good call. I don't think anyone has asked me that yet. His/Her powers and abilities will, for the most part, be the same; however, there will be a subtle difference in Ranma's female form  .
