I kind curious how many fics does Ranma use a different name other than Ranko for his female form. I'm not looking for stories where he's stuck female and using anohter name, just ones were the curse is stil active, but he doesn't use Ranko.

I've written a few, and more exist only as ideas (I usually write those down, though). However, most of them are instances like my RMProject stories, where Ranma 'becomes' an existing character like Ami. I'm not sure whether or not you'd count those types of stories, though, because it's not exactly the same. ^_^;

He becomes the existing character? To what degree? I mean his cursed for has the personality of the person he's replaced?

For instance, in Forever a Tomboy he's literally Michiru, and in Destiny's Child, he's Hotaru.

I know there's a bunch where Ranma doesn't choose Ranko, but I can't remember ever seeing one where it's done for the "must hide from Nodoka" reason.

Well he doesn't exactly become the character in those two fic, he replaces them. I've read both stories. Well I read up to his fight with Hopposia in Forever a Tomboy, but thats a fic were he's locked even if it is by his own choosing.

So yes, "Destiny's Child" counts, and I've read it, enjoyed it. Others like that would qualify for what I'm looking for.

In my fic 'Saint Cassiopeia' Ranma's female form is called Mei.

How about where Ranma initially did use the name Ranko to refer to his female form but decided to use a different one in the future as a permanent name for the form whenever she happened to be female.

I'm thinking specifically of "A Trip to Self" by Trugeta where Ranma decides to use an alternate spelling of his name for his female form for the duration of the fic. I'd provide a link, but ff.net is on the fritz for me right now.

He did. That was not only the name Ranma took, it was the name of the story. The FFNet search function is down right now, but it'll probably be there. That's one where Ranma wants to make a permanent break with all Nerima. And why should s/he use a name they're already familiar with?

Kenko's Paragon gives Ranma's female form another name (Naoko Takahashi) when she's in Azabu Juuban.
