A science question regarding size

Postby Crescent Pulsar » Sat Sep 01, 2012 2:01 am

Yeah, I was suddenly curious if there was any known limit to how small something could be. Is there a definitive limit, or is the jury still out on it? We made the assumption with the atom (hence its name), and it takes something like the Large Hadron Collider to see small particles, but does the math express that as the limit or will the Large Hadron Collider be followed by something that can see smaller still?

The Planck length. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planck_length) But it is so small, noone has every measures it, and its so far only theoretical, and has no practical use so far. Only used in some Theories (String, Quantum, Black Hole, Gravity etc.)
