Imagehost recommendations?

Yeah, I've been considering possibly setting up an imagehost service account, just to make posting images on forums easier. ^_^; Any recommendations? I've seen Photobucket, but I'm not sure about the terms of service at the moment.

Don't use imageshack. I've had pictures randomly deleted there.

If you could afford it I'd think it might be better to try to make your own server and host from home. Too many places are cracking down on copyright infringement lately. Its hard to have fan art without infringing on copyrights.

I could probably live with just using attachments (as I did in that last Trap thread. There's one forum I'm on, though, that only wants remote images, if you use any... even for your avatar image and sig. (Not that I ever use images in a sig, but you get the point.))

This site isn't one but some forums have attachments that allow linking off site.

I haven't had much problem with Imageshack but they did deliberately delete and edited animated Enterprise gif because the image violated copyright.

I've never used it before, but what about Flickr? Or Pixiv .net.... although that one is a Japanese site.

Spokavriel: Right. Of course, I'd rather not have to link offsite, if I can help it. (And yes, I know you know that. )

Bliss: I'm not sure about Pixiv, really. It seems like they want you to be logged in/have an account just to view almost any image, at all. I'd doubt they would allow anyone to post linked images elsewhere. Besides, it seemed more like a full-subscribe version of DeviantArt, at times. ^_^;
Flickr... I'm not sure they allow linked images, either. As far as I know, you have to go to a page for each image, if you want to view it.

imgur seems interesting, as you don't need to set up an account just to submit an image (of course, they do keep a record of the IPs, just in case).

I'm also wondering about tinypic, though that's basically (actually) run by Photobucket.

One thing I'm considering is creating pictures like those in the Twisted Crossover thread... might as well get additional use out of all the models and such I've bought over the years.

I'm using photobucket at the moment for hosting my pics. As yet I haven't had any problems. ( other than their re-sizing some of my pictures & gif animations)

Is it still doing that one glitch where it thinks every frame of a gif is thought to require the full gif size? The only way I found to avoid that is to allow it to render everything with no invisible pixels. But it massively adds to the file size.

I'm still considering Photobucket, but now, I'm concerned about it auto-resizing my images, as well.

I take it, that if I use Photobucket to host my avatar images (for another board), if they're cut from existing anime art (official or even fan art), that chances are the images won't last long? I don't really want to have to change my image every week... er, month. Yeah, month. ^_^;;;

If it is a well known character I could see them after a short time having someone check your account daily.

As far as how long a picture can stay on photobucket - I've had the pictures I posted on this page up since 2006.

Also some of my drawings in the Fan Art forum have been up just as long.

Though the question there is how often those pictures get called up for viewing.

I have various anime characters in my photobucket account.

I have never had a file deleted, not since 2004.
