This may sound dumb to some of you, but I'm self taught on the computer. Thought I know what an IRC is, do I need a seprate program to us a chat room or can I use windows. If windows will do where do I put in the settings.. Just remeber when I went to school we used key-puch cards for computer input.

Use mIRC for Windows if you prefer. It's the most widely used one: www.mirc.com
You can always switch to a different client later on if you prefer
If you really run into problems, look me up on EfNet, Rizon, IRCHighway, DANet or EnterTheGame. I'm using the same nick as I use on these forums, and unlike Nabiki these networks are listed in the first connections window you run into.
