After a very long delay, another episode of Mahoujin Guruguru Doki Doki Legend has been fan subbed. I'm planning to watch that in a little while. For those who may not be familiar with MG, it's a fantasy adventure with tongue very firmly planted in cheek. It's set up like a console FRP game in that whenever a character shows up, his stats are displayed onscreen. An announcer narrates the important points, and the characters are really funny. A great series all around. Doki Doki Legend is the second series.

There were a few changes. The flashback was a little worse then in the manga for one. Also, I think the earl's mouth was meant to move... But that's just my opinions

Over the past few weeks I've been watching Full Metal Panic to episode 15, My HiME to episode 14, and The Dirty Pair OVA.
Also the fan subbed Yume Tsukai and Okusama wa Mahou Shoujo ( My Mistress is a Magical Girl - at least that's one translation of the title)
Yume Tsukai centers on two young miko who fight nightmares that have entered the real world.
Okusama explores the idea of what happens when a magical girl has to grow up and is reluctant to give up her power to the next generation.

Heh. I've actually watched all of Yume Tsukai myself.... but I wasn't that impressed with it.
That being said, how is Okusama? I've got that burnt somewhere, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

Most recently got around to watching Howls Moving Castle. It had some neat and cool things in it, but some of the relationship development seemed a bit iffy to me. Mostly right around the end. It seemed like some was cut out or something. I think spirited away and princess mononoke handled it better.

*grins* Mononoke Hime was the only Ghibli of 'recent' that I found totally enjoyable, beyond "Wow, that was neat", more along the lines of "That movie changed my life forever" ^^ That being said, I haven't seen Howl's Moving Castle or the new one.... something Genki - -"

Hmm... Just watched the first episode of Pumpkin Scissors, and I must say I found it to be enjoyable. The basic plotline reminded me vaguely of kenshin (The fact that they made a reference to Saitoh's catchphrase might be the main thing making me see that though)
However the basic plot seems to revolve around a war that happened 10 years before the story starts. The main character (Randel Oland) fought in the war as some kind of super soldier. However now that the war is over he has become something of a derilect. Without ruining the episode, he ends up coming into contact with a "War Relief" squad of the millitary, whose job is to help with the problems resulting from the war (Bandits poverty and whatnot) and go around helping those who suffer because of the war ten years ago.
As noted I liked it. The animation style seemed pretty good, and Randel's character design in particuler seemed to be interesting, even if he does remind one of Crocodile from One Piece. The music doesn't grate on the ears, and the general atmosphere (Seemingly around WWII technologies, though I'm bad with military weapon designs) works well with the show.

Eh? Who did the subs for that one? *pouts* Did I miss that on the torrents?
*grins* Just watched the first episode of the new Black Lagoon season, which feature some freaky siblings that are supposed to be vamps but end up reminding you of those twins in the Shining... *shrugs* or at least that's what they're supposed to be based on. *smirks* there's nothing that different between the first season of Black Lagoon and the second season... *shrugs* Generally it's just a nice little distraction from my attempts to start a Bleach marathon....50-98 left.

For the studio Gibli stuff I found Kiki's Delivery Service suprisingly good. I first caught it on the Disney channel as I was surfing thrue. Heart warming and a definite family/kids film (much more than the grittier Mononoke) I was suprised that it kept my attention the whole time. Considering I tend to get restless if I sit still to long thats not too shabby.

*shrugs* I guess it's all a matter of taste. I found My Neighbor Totoro still has a special place for me, because it was the first anime movie I ever watched, and the first Ghibli for me as well.... *grins* Mononoke Hime was just one of those ..... wow... movies that everything clicked. Great plot, excellent characterization, amazing soundtrack and superb directing.
Hmmmm the rest of the Ghibli stuff I liked, but wasn't 'wow'd by.... like Laputa, or Nausica. *shrugs* I guess I'm just not that big a fan of Ghibli films, although my roommate is a diehard Miyazaki fan.
