message box scroll bar problem

I've noticed that when I start to write a long message - editing someone's story or posting my own - and try to make edits to it in places that need to be scrolled to be seen, the scroll bar at the side of the message box keeps moving back to the top every time I type a single letter. ( i.e. I scroll down to see what needs editing, press a key and the scroll bar jumps back to the top of its own accord)

Has anyone else had this problem?

Is there some way of stopping it from happening?

I've had this problem if I need to use Internet Explorer to make any posts. I don't know what browser you're using, but if that's the one then maybe you could try using a different one and see what happens. Otherwise, I'm not sure.

I have this same problem... unlike the other issues I've run into with the forum, this one does seem to be IE specifc, and not old theme specific.

Regrettible, as I prefer IE over the other browsers, though Opera serves as a decent backup for me.

It's been bugging me for ages, I think since this site underwent its skin change, possibly before.

It happens to me often on the default theme, using Firefox (but I'm not entirely sure it happens across all my systems and Firefox setups). If I'm entering a long message (including PMs), then cursor back slightly and hit one of the formatting buttons, it'll jump to the top of the message.

I've got the Text Formatting Toolbar extension installed in FF, which helps (it doesn't jump if I enter the formatting codes that way (or manually, of course )), but that's just a workaround.

For me, this started some months before. I hadn't had the problem on IE prior; that day I updated my version of Internet Explorer in an attempt to get the dialogue box to quit bugging me. Ever since then...well, you know the rest.

I use to have trouble with that and I've been using different versions of Seamonkey (A mozilla browser) for a long time. It seems as long as I keep the mouse inside the area of the text entry field it doesn't cause it to jump back to the top. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's just some bug with PHP.

IE8 seems to have that issue, but I have had no problems with Safari
