They've always seemed to like doing the occasional live-action adaptation of anime/manga series in Japan, especially if it doesn't require a lot of special effects. Heck, I'm still cringing a bit at the live-action attempts at Conan.

I'm just surprised they haven't attempted a live-action version of K-On! - or at least, that I've heard.

I've also seen Live action You're Under Arrest. In all honesty, while the little of that I did
watch came across as a bit cheesy... it did not seem overly bad.

Live action Sailor Moon was a complete and utter turnoff for me though... I watched I think two episodes before deciding it was a waste of time. And plot wise it is notihng like either anime or manga... So I would expect the same cringe worthiness here given what is known of the plot.


The trick is... live action sort of defeats the reasons I watch anime... I like the details and artwork and efforts that go into it... the nonhuman but human looking chracters... live action completely removes that aspect for me... as such there is very little anime indeed I would want to see live action.

About the only compromize I would make is CGI characters... like the final fantasy movie... yeah the one nearly all final fantasy gamers hated...

I prefer a panda suit. Its japan. They'll use suits if it will be mixed with live action rather than CGI.

As I've said before, I have a feeling it will be more of a drama/comedy rather than a martial arts comedy.

Plot summary on that link makes me go, 'Huh?!'. Either that's a really bad translation or its take on canon is going to be a little sideways.

Some of the comments here were suggesting the Ranma (animated) series (both of them at the same time?) could be 'relaunched,' like Dragonball Z was, with Dragonball Z Kai - cleaned-up/extra animation, redubbing, etc. I mentioned that Kunou might have to be completely redubbed, in that case, as his original voice actor (Hirotaka Suzuoki) passed away in 2006. (That's why he has a different voice in the new OVA, although I don't remember who voiced Kunou, there.)

It's not that hard to imagine, if there's an actual villain. *Shakes head* So cliche...

The villain looks lame. Probably escaped from an 80s sentai show.

Wow...Panda suit looks um...And overall it looks quite cheap production wise. Yeah this is going to be hilariously awful. Not live action SM level but pretty damn bad still. The one slight fight scene didn't look bad though so at least there's hope.

Anyone know if there is a fansubber that already promised to do it?
