I just got my hands on volume 5 (Viz Media translation/compilation) of the Ranma 1/2 manga from a very reliable bookstore. However, there's something that seems rather amiss... on page 68, we have Cologne and Ryoga talking about how Ryoga is only thinking about beating Ranma (which Cologne proves is a lie by tapping on the boulder, in which the kanji for "Akane" have been hole-punched). But the next page, 69, depicts "the day of the fight". Isn't there supposed to be a scene in the day where Akane stumbles out and almost sees Ryoga having holepunched her name yet again, only for Ryoga to finally achieve enlightenment through terror and blow it up with the Bakusai Tenketsu before she can see the evidence.
So, have I got some kind of defective copy? Or am I just confusing the reality of the manga storyline with perhaps the anime version of the storyline, and/or a fanfic take on that storyline?
