The Kidnapping of Ranma

Postby SpaceKnight of Chaos » Fri Oct 30, 2009 7:36 pm

I know that, in both canons, Akane Tendo is not the only person to be kidnapped- as a matter of fact, Ranma actually gets kidnapped almost as much, if not more, then Akane does, and in both forms. But I can't actually remember when or how this happens. Can anyone tell me?
Water, water, everywhere, and all was cursed and black!
Drowned ones cast bad spell and out come pig, girl, duck, panda!
Swirl, swirl, slithery pond, and join with magic spring!
Swirl, swirl, dirty pond, and rid the cursed sting!
Here my prayer, I beg you please!
Now turn these curses BACK!

If "kidnapping" includes being tied up and hidden away (a questionable way of keeping him safe), or being held prisoner, there are two times that come to mind. The first is when he's weakened by the moxibustion, and Akane ties him up and stuffs him in the shed with the school's sports equipment, so certain people wouldn't take advantage of him. The other time was when he was captured, along with Shampoo, by Pink and Link, and Akane went to get him when he seemed to be gone for too long.

Hmmm... there was the martial arts tea cerimony arc. Though that was not exactly a kidnapping per se.

Ranma tops Akane for being held captive.

Ranma
- Genma in the first chapter
- Martial arts tea ceremony, Ranma is drugged and taken to the guys home.
- In the Principal Kuno introduction arc, Ranma is held captive by the Principal
- By the rich guy who owns the defunct hot spring island
- By Ryoga during the koi rod of love arc
- Demon dog swimsuit attempted to steal Ranma away to the bottom of the sea
- Held hostage by Pink and Link
- Kuno during the man cherry tree arc, with a magical barrier Ranma couldn't cross.
- Male classmates during the Aloha virus chapter
- By Mirror Ranma
- Shampoo during Saffron arc

(Could be argued that during the cat's tongue arc and Herb arc that Ranma's male form was being held captive by Cologne and by Herb. Then there's Nabiki actually selling Ranma into slavery. Or even when Genma took Ranma from Nodoka when he was a baby.)

Akane
- Held as a prize during breaking point duel
- Mousse when he tried to turn her into a duck
- First time Taro shows up
- During the reversal jewel arc
- By the angry doll Ranma knocked over
- By Mirror Ranma
- Kiima who took her to Jusenkyo before locking her in a dungeon

(Possible that Shampoo's use of memory manipulation could be considered)

I think there was another 1 or 2 times in the anime that Ranma got kidnapped, too. Only one that comes to mind, though, is Ling-Ling & Lung-Lung's second episode, and I wouldn't entirely count that, as it seems he went with them willingly in exchange for a promised picnic lunch.
