I forgot the pad with all the notes, plus I'm not sure I could legitimately write the 6th season up today, so I won't be able to post that until Monday, my time.

On the 7th season, I've reached the episode I mentioned before -"Meet You in the Milky Way"- so I can't continue until I've gotten your words: tally this episode or not?
Water, water, everywhere, and all was cursed and black!
Drowned ones cast bad spell and out come pig, girl, duck, panda!
Swirl, swirl, slithery pond, and join with magic spring!
Swirl, swirl, dirty pond, and rid the cursed sting!
Here my prayer, I beg you please!
Now turn these curses BACK!

Akane has now logged more Good actions than Shampoo and Ukyo combined have logged actions, period.

These two seasons have improved Akane's statistics, but there's one thing I find worrying. No anime character has logged more than 6 Uglies in one appearance. Shampoo and Kodachi only reach this peak once, but Akane has hit it three times so far.

Out of curiosity, just what do you mean by 'you find it worrying'? And I repeat: do you want me to tally Akane's behavior in Meet Me in the Milky Way or not? I can't advance in the 7th season's tallying until I get that question answered, and as I have nothing else to do on the weekend, I was hoping to finish off the 7th season and at least get started on the OAVs & Movies.

Speaking of which, do you want me to put those here or in the OAV GBU topic?

With the other girls, getting that unpleasant is an anomaly. With Akane, it happens several times. She has three worst moments that are equivalent to or worse than anyone else's sole worst moment.

In regards to the episode, I haven't seen it and as such cannot vote.

I ended up tallying the episode, but here's the runthrough so you can decide whether I should include it in the 7th season's list.

It opens several days before Tanabata, the Japanese Festival of Lovers held on July 7th, when two stars (identified with the mythological figures Princess Ori and her lover Kengyu the Cowherd) on opposite sides of the Milky Way move together. While stargazing, Ranma realises that the star identified as Kengyu has vanished, and Akane then sees the star Princess Ori move into a shooting star. She falls from the balcony, but shrugs off the blow and Ranma's concern to run to where the star has fallen. There, she finds a strange girl with dark green hair and ornate clothes, who is identified as none other than Princess Ori herself.

The princess settles into the dojo for a while, then the dojo is attacked by a new Dojo Destroyer- a stranger with a cow who is revealed to be Ori's betrothed, Kengyu. It is explained that Ori and Kengyu, like Ranma and Akane, were betrothed to carry on the Milky Way School of Martial Arts- however, Kengyu is pacifistic and less skilled than Ori, whose anger at this led to him leaving to go on a training journey. If Kengyu doesn't return to the Milky Way by July 7th, Ori will have to marry someone else, and that's why she came to earth- to find him, apologise and bring him home.

Ranma manages to defeat Kengyu in a match, aided primarily by Ori realising the "Kengyu Superstar Maneuver" (or Kengyu Shooting Star Kick, depending on which language you choose) is Kengyu distracting his opponent so his cow can kick them in the back of the head, which she prevents, and Kengyu and Ori make up and go home. But not before Ori gives Akane a glowing piece of material, with the explanation it's a spell to help her get together with Ranma.

The scene then wavers so that we're looking through Akane's eyes as her vision clears and she finds herself staring at the concerned Ranma, who explains that just a second ago she fell off the balcony and hit her head. The two stars are revealed to be right where they should be, and Akane asks herself if it was all a dream. She opens her palm to find it glowing, though the glow then fades, which makes her wonder if it was real afterall. The episode ends with Ranma piggybacking Akane into the house.

I'd say that the episode should count for Akane, as since it is her dream, she is acting the way she'd normally act. However, if you get to Ranma, I would not count the actions in the dream for him, as this is only a perception of Ranma doing things, not actually Ranma.

I would count her behavior. Even though it's a dream, from your description it seems to be a very lucid dream, and thus her behavior is true to her character, as she would have done the same things if it were real.

The only reason I would discount a person's behavior is if their personality is being manipulated (possessed by oni, affected by lovespell or similar). For example, I would have still counted Akane's behavior when affected by Shampoo's 'Xi Fa Xiang Gao' technique, because it affected her memories, but not her personality.

I wouldn't count dreams as the character didn't actually do anything even if they (the dreamer) behaved as they would have had it actually happened.

Actually, I'd say it pretty clearly did alter her personality/thought-process. You'd expect that knowing your head had been monkeyed with would produce some amount of consternation, even if you couldn't remember what had been erased. But she blithely jokes about what'd been done to her with Soun, and Nabiki even comments on how unconcerned she appears.

It's not just amnesia. It's a constant inability to keep a memory in place, and turning you into a vapid enough zombie that you're not concerned even after you realize that you can't keep a memory in place.

That's screwing with your head a lot more than just erasing a specific memory--which is, I imagine, why Acey didn't count it in the original list.

If she had just trusted that Ranma would try to save her, as he did, it would have come through perfectly fine- as it was, it was sheer good fortune that Ranma didn't end up losing the only cure in the world for his moxi-burn.

Why on earth should she have expected that a weakened Ranma would be able to reach her in time, and get her safely down? Even with them both conscious, he'd thus far been unable to--and she was only seconds away from passing out completely.

Besides the obvious increased difficulty of reaching her once she was KOed, the chart could have been ripped free of her tunic (heck, it was arguably about to, seeing how she was clutching herself) and Ranma didn't even know it was there to even try to keep it from doing so, even if he had somehow reached her even while she was unconscious, and before the chart was lost anyway.

In fact, it's the other way around. If Ranma had taken the chart when she told him to, it would most likely have been safe. It got ripped up because he grabbed her instead of the chart--and it was only through the spectacular luck of Happi recovering at just the right moment that he managed a safe landing anyway.

Very well then, I'll add that episode to the 7th season, when I do it. I tried to put the 6th season on today, but the cursed forum logged me out while I was posting and I ended up losing it all. Hopefully I'll get it on tomorrow.

And in the anime version, claymade, Ranma is merely inches away before Akane reveals she has the chart.

Even in the anime, she still passes out, doesn't she? Thus, it'd still be an entirely logical idea that getting the chart out of her possession before that happened--and into Ranma's--was worth the risk of temporarily exposing it to the wind.

And just as the icing on the cake, even if it had been a bad idea (which even we, from our armchairs, can debate at length about) you're trying to beat her up for what was a split-second judgment call made while asphyxiating in the middle of a tornado, and call it evidence of her "ugliness". That, IMHO, takes fault-finding to a rather extreme length.

Season 6 is here at last. It's from this season that the "?" marks start to pop up- please give me your opinion on what mark that mark actually deserves, or even if it's worth marking. As always, if you think a mark was marked wrongly, please speak up.

Oh, and by the way bissek? Does your tally for anime-Shampoo take into account the fact I downgraded her Ugly in Big Trouble in Nekonron China to a Bad and that I elevated her final mark (E for kicking Happosai into LEO) into a G/E?

Dear Daddy... Love, Kodachi
G: comes to the Kuno estate after hearing about the brewing battle between the Kunos from Sasuke.
G: sympathetic to Tatewaki after hearing about his childhood.
G: scolds Ranma for shouting at Sasuke when it turns out Sasuke doesn't have a plan.
G: less than pleased when Ranma insults Kuno, mocking & belittling him in order to make him change his mind about leaving by playing on his ego.
G: tells Principal Kuno (does this guy *have* a first name?) that they didn't come to fight when he gets ready to batle.

Gosunkugi... The New Rival?
G/B: makes lunch for everyone...
U: ...as she has for the last three days in a row, forcing Ranma to eat it each time.
G/B: concerned when Ranma leaves his lunch behind.
G: apologises to Gosunkugi for stepping on him and helps him get to Furinkan High.
G/B: gives Ranma his lunch.
E/B: gets mad when Ranma refuses to eat it.
G/B: offers it to Gosunkugi.
B: refuses Ranma's attempts to stop this by first warning Gosunkugi that he couldn't handle Akane's vile cooking and then trying to take the bento back.
B: insults Ranma & runs away when their tug-o-war spills it.
B: refuses to listen when Ranma tries to explain/apologise.
U: doesn't get mad in the slightest when it turns out Soun & Genma have been dumping her bentos in the garbage and buying takeout all along.
G: decides to finally stop cooking.
G: when Ranma comments on this, admits that her cooking isn't up to standard...
B/U: ...but defends herself with the excuse that she's practising, then calls Ranma disgusting for wasting "good" food.
- the "I'm practising!" excuse would get a lot more sympathy from me if she was actually learning from her mistakes. Which she doesn't. And calling her slop good food is an insult to anyone who can cook.
B: snaps at Ranma when he tells her not to give up.
G: grateful when he presents her a present- a brand new cookbook.
G: watches over the unconscious Gosunkugi after he does his human lightning rod act.
G/B: gives him her latest culinary disaster.
G/B: asks Ranma if it's okay to do so, making it obvious she believes jealousy alone was why Ranma prevented her doing it before.
G: doesn't get mad when Ranma comments he can't believe anyone would want to eat her cooking.
U: insists that it's gotten better, despite the fact she never tastes it herself.

Ranma's Calligraphy Challenge
E/B: chases Ranma, trying to hit him with a broom, for trying to get out of cleanup duty.
G: concerned when Ranma tries to make Sotatsu accept his challenge by feinting a strike at him.
G: trains Ranma in handwriting.
G: tries to make Ranma see sense when he finally gives up in disgust.
G: goes to Ryoga's side in concern when the ink-splattered lost boy collapses at the dojo's door.
G: washes the ink off.
B/E: fails to realise Ryoga & Pchan are one and the same.
G: comes to cheer Ranma on in his match against Sotatsu.
G: calls encouragement to Ranma when he proves to have difficulty against Sotatsu's attacks.
G: concerned for Kuno after Sotatsu uses him as a shield.
G: tells Ranma that this is the ideal moment to strike when Sotatsu is laughing maniacally at Happosai's antics.

The Secret Don of Furinkan High
G: tells the students that whining about the quality of the don's goods is useless and that they should complain to Principal Kuno about them.
G: heads into the abandoned area to disprove the rumors.
G: gives Toramasa a backrub and inquires about his health when he starts coughing.
G/E: yells at Ranma to show Toramasa respect when he is disdainful of the wrinkled old nincompoop.
G: yells at Kuno to stop his attack.
G: comments politely on Toramasa's load of BS when he explains the "history" (read: complete lunatic fabrication) of Furinkan High School.
G: brings a warning to Toramasa when Principal Kuno organises the other students to get rid of him.
G: horrified when the ancient lunatic threatens to commit hara-kiri.
G: tells Ranma that they must help Toramasa.
G: creates a trap for the students.
G: not impressed when Toramasa leaves them to do all the work of defending his old butt while he sits and drinks tea.
G: calls a warning to Toramasa when it appears Principal Kuno is ready to deliver the coup de grace in their match.

Back to the Way We Were... Please!
G: points out the obvious flaw to all of them bathing in Ranma's Powdered Jusenkyo Spring.
G/E: tells Kasumi she's lost it when the eldest insists that it'd be fun.
G: points out Ranma has nothing to lose by trying the bag.
- I can't help but wonder... just how might things have changed if Ranma had traded his Drowned Girl curse for Drowned Pterodactyl?
G: offers him support and encouragement.
E: not happy when he goes with Shampoo to get the other two packets.

Ryoga Inherits the Saotome School?
G: shocked to hear Genma is disowning Ranma.
E: gets mad at Ranma's apparent disinterest in this.
- after all, it's not like she knows this is just Genma's idiotic idea to get revenge for his sweets getting eaten.
G: gets angry when they decide to switch her engagement from Ranma to Ryoga.
G: refuses to just sit back and let things happen to her.
G: politely waves off Ranma's offer to go to a late-night shop and buy some milk.
G: worried for Ranma's inheritance.
G: points out that Ryoga & Genma sure seem to be taking it seriously.
G: realises that it's bugging Ranma and begs him not to lie about the fact.
E: tells Ukyo it's none of her business when the chef asks if she's excited about trading Ranma for Ryoga as her fiance.
G: horrified when Ranma nonchalantly affirms Ukyo's question that he's being disowned.
G: distressed when Ukyo points out this means he'll have to leave the Tendo Dojo and Ranma agrees that she has a point.
E: not happy when Ukyo offers to let Ranma stay at her place, calling it a stupid idea.
E: affronted by Ranma telling her to go home while he remains at Ukyo's for a while...
E/B: wrecking Soun's dinner to vent her feelings and displaying no remorse for this.
G: worried for Ranma after seeing how much Ryoga has improved.
G: realises that Genma is directing Ryoga by secret signals and is worried for Ranma.
G: shocked when Genma throws a cat at Ranma.
B: eats all of the sweets Ranma asked her to fetch for him while his back is turned and then runs away.

Tendo Family Goes To The Amusement Park
G: suggests to Kasumi that she and Dr. Tofu go to the amusement park without the others in the Tendo house.
G: tries to retrieve her underwear when Happosai brandishes them at her, thus chasing him away from the conversation about the amusement park.
G: looks ashamed that she and the others are intruding on what Tofu was undoubtedly hoping would be some private time.
G: upset when Nabiki mocks Tofu's infatuation and the stupid behavior that results.
G: apologises to Tofu about their presence.
G: wishes she could help the two get together.
E: unhappy to find out Shampoo has a job in the park.
G: scolds Soun for blowing all their money on whack-a-mole.
G: plans to give the prize to Kasumi & Tofu if she wins the race.
E/B: starts a shunting match with Shampoo after getting rammed.
G: tells Soun & Genma to get out of the way before she & Shampoo crash into them.
G: concerned for Ranma after Happosai causes everyone to pileup.
G: calls encouragement to Kasumi, the last one in the race.
G: apologises for the others being at the dinner.

*Apologies, but work has picked up- I won't be able to complete season 6 until I have finished scanning some new documents. Should I include the remaining episodes in this post or make a new post to finish off season 6?*
