Nodoka and Genma's views on manliness

Postby Suikie » Tue Sep 25, 2007 8:55 pm

OK, so I'm making a fic which will have Ranma go kinda nutty and start trying to act more manly and do things that are stereotypical of a manly man... as far as Nodoka and Genma are concerned. I want it to be as WEIRD and OUTLANDISH as possible so let's come up with some ideas of manliness that Nodoka and Genma would come up with. Remember, these concepts of manliness will be entirely stereotypical and absurd.

For starters:
Nodoka views a manly man as a playboy type sorta. Must be brave, heroic and is allowed to take liberties with his fiancee(s). Fanon suggests she would want Ranma to claim mistresses. Peeking on women could be considered manly in her eyes.

Genma... his views change depending on the circumstance so ATM I can't really think of anything solid.

Edit: for some reason the post got messed up when I posted...

Anyways I wanted to know what other views people have noticed or other interpretations.

Genma's insistence on making Ranma a man amongst men is twofold. First reason is to cut Nodoka's protests when they meet (or to keep katana on the wall more precisely. Second it gave him a good way to motivate Ranma. Other than that he doesn't care much about Ranma's manhood. The guy was looking forward to marry his son to a guy so he can dine French cuisine rest of his life.

Not to mention, it's a way to manipulate Ranma since he is so sensitive about said manhood. Ranma is quick to defend any assault on his manhood and will jump at most challenges made against it.

One thing to point out, Nodoka has a particularly odd view on manliness that I think actually does greatly contradict the way Ranma lives. She wants more or less to have a man that is horny, which is unfortunate for Ranma since he has extremely little limbido for a kid his age, but shuns other types of perversion that Ranma is prone to do, such as crossdressing.

If she knew the whole story about her son, she'd probably start to see him as very unmanly I think. You could in the story put in a time when she really starts to do so.

In typical takahashi fashion, she'll never know, otherwise Genma would be dead by now, and even tehn she's a traditional japanese woman who might curb to her husband.

Unless, doesn't carrying the family sword make you the clan leader? Ranma will never be able to fulfill the image his mother wants. Darn you Takahashi, why'd you stop the manga?!
