Nerima Wrecking Crew?

I see this term used so often that I think it's been written somewhere in the canon material and I missed it. Is that really it? Or was it thought up by a fanfiction writer? If so, why has it caught on like it has?
Just curious.

to tell the truth, In the german translation there isn't a term like that.
personally I think that it's a fanon term.
It's the Nerima regulars, at least those that can fight.
Anyone with more light on this?

Completely fanon, as it appears neither in manga or the anime. It probably caught on because it seems a convenient collective proper noun to describe them.

I'd agree, plus with the way Shampoo and Ryouga usually make an entrance by breaking down a wall it makes sense. But the real reason is their fights often cause massive property damage, enough that a construction crew is needed to repair all the damage.
Plus, do you reall want to write out "Ranma, Ryouga, Akane, Ukyo, Shampoo, Mousse, Kuno, and Kodachi blah blah blah" when you can write "The Nerima Wrecking Crew blah blah blah" to save time?

It's likely it was used in one of the earlier fics as a convinience and snowballed.

Im curious which story it appeared in first. Most importantly on how well writtten, general plot and how popular it was/is. It would be funny and amazing if it was a little known title that was poorly written and had that kind of gem in it that one of the readers or the author propogated somewhere else. Heck, could have even spawned off of a message board like this one....

Actually, that wouldn't be too surprising. Most of the early fanfic writers tended to read USenet and post fics there.

Often? Then I suppose you will have no difficulty giving examples of the so called NWC, actually taking out more then a rare wall, will you? Naturally as Rogue, Toru, Saphron, Herb, and other such characters are not usually present or referred to by that title you can't use their feats.
Personally I think it's symptomatic of a tendency we see in Ranma fanfiction. One that follows a Sith saying, about victory, but itself is perhaps part of a greater tendency.

The Bath house when the hot water at the Tendo house was out, Happosai destroying the Sexy Kunoichi tea house, and the Perfect Shishi Haukudan are the things I can think of off the top of my head. I haven't seen the entire anime series yet, so I can't be sure about anime only events. But there are also minor events, such as Akane hitting Ranma and Kuno through the roof or walls, kuno slicing the wall to bits, Coconut head's pineapple bombs.

Well Kuno's trick in volume 1 was another rare wall damage, much like Ranma's first Shi-Shi. Ryouga's perfect, actually only made a crater in the school lawn, with no ejecti, from what we see so that's not property damage in the traditional sense. I'm not remembering the others, but keep going.

If you count the anime then there was the time Ranma and Ryouga thought there was a spring of Drowned Man beneath the girls' locker room at Furinkan and when they were searching the Kuno mansion for the red pot that would show them where the real spring was. While the first wasn't real big, it resulted in a large explosion of water that probably ruined the locker room. The second was pretty much the same, only on a larger scale since I'm pretty sure Ranma trashed most of the plumbing used the the traps. Oh yeah, the fiance brigade destroyed the Saotome house, then there was the failed wedding.
